* Alderman Moore's Mission Causes Misery for One Downtown Eatery

What's Next, Steaks, Bacon & Chicken?

Alderman Moore's wild Goose and Duck actvists hunted down Cyrano's Bistrot and Wine Bar at 546 N. Wells between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. When they found the place, they vandalized it. Just a day after speaking out against Alderman Moore's proposed ban on foie gras, the chef, Didier Durand arrived at his River North business Wednesday to a sight usually seen on Morse Avenue! A shattered window, this one covered with fake goose or duck blood. Also found were busted-up flower boxes strewn on the sidewalk. Very much like Howard Street.

Mayor Mocks Joe

Mayor Daley chided the proposed ban, laughing and snickering at Alderman Moore in a news conference. Da Mayor enjoys eating foie gras and said even with a ban, restaurants are likely to find a way to serve foie gras under a different name, say like .... "fatty liver"! Just take a look at how long Alderman Moore has been in office before raising his feathers over this issue. It wasn't until winter of 2005 Alderman Moore knew how to spell foie gras much less know what it was.

Alderman Moore said about this while being interviewed on foie gras........> "All of God's creatures should be treated humanely."

Tom said.....> "What does this picture have to do with Joe Moore or foie gras"?

Is this one of God's creatures being treated humanely?

Moore's hanging with rough crowd these days, those animal rights activist types, taking it to the streets, BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY! Power to the people, right on.

Craig writes, "Is this one of God's creatures being treated humanely?"

What does that have to do with anything? His argument against foie gras (that I do not agree with) is with the way the animals are raised not their slaughter.

Also, do you know that this restaurant was vandalized because they served foie gras? Do you know that they were driven to it because of the alderman's comments? If you do, I would be interested to know where you got he info.

Again, Craig, I do not necessarily think you are a bad guy but if you want to have any credibility you have to do a better job at reporting facts and not just speculation. You seem to be very good at finding stories but reluctant to do the homework necessary to make yourself credible.

Finally, it is obvious that you have a vendetta against the alderman. I do not know what he has done to make you so angry and I don't care. Taking him to task for things he had no control over is a waste of everyone's time. It seems that your blog is viewed by a lot of people but, if you keep up all this grandstanding, I think you'll find folks going back to reading their paper for news and ignoring the boy who cried wolf.

You are in a position right now to make a legitimate news forum of this blog. Please take a minute to think about these comments seriously before firing off an angry note. I am trying to help you as I know you would try to help me.

Your Neighbor,
Michael K
