What's a few billion dollars anyway?
"Chucklin Joe" as he voted to raise every tax he can find, and then some...
Chicago Chamber of Commerce said that $6 billion dollars worth of consumer spending is diverted each year to the suburbs. It is going to get worse with the extra fee hikes, extra taxes and higher fines passed by City of Chicago Alderman! This city nickel and dimes John Q. Public with the highest sales tax in the country!
Sheli Lulkin, executive director of the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce worries, "We are so close to the suburbs" , "for big ticket items".... "they will shop anywhere but the city." She is worried that businesses will feel a sharp effect.
Babaian at $1 Dollar Deals in Rogers Park views it the same. "My big ticket items are smoking products, like cigarettes and blunts and rolling papers, they are going up and up and up! Like my rent, up.. up... up! And now the city wants another 32 cents a pack? "My business is going up in smoke."
"Screaming Joe" totally disagrees, "I do not fore-see residents fleeing to places like Evanston to save "a few bucks!"

I read this today, what a joke, but where was the rest of the story?
I called News Star and they said the whole story will run next week.
