It's a Lucky Day. Two people hit, No One was Killed
This is off the path a couple of blocks, but the above "photo exclusive" is the aftermath of a "hit and run" today on the southwest corner of Pratt and Sheridan.
One person is in serious but stable condition and the driver was caught. "It could have been worse!" said Sergeant Jones. "It is midday and this is a very busy corner." "Everyone was eager to help out in catching this person, everyone was very helpful."
This driver totally destroyed this new, very expensive, lighted, three seater- 2 sided, advertising CTA bus bench. All that was left was two sides of advertisment. These benches have all the "bells and whistles", but aren't too sturdy, glass is it's main ingredient.
DevCorupt North Board Secretary, CAPS 2431 Beat Facilitator, 49th Ward Up/Down Zoning Committee President, 49th Ward Democratic Party Board member, CTA tattle tale Kevin O'Neil couldn't be reached, he was explaining on his blog site what is happening with the budget vote today at the CTA. The meeting address was changed at the last minute and held while folks were working. Much like the SSA #24 meetings he defended as fair.
Now this is a real quote from Kevin's site.
"Hmmm... good question Jasmine. I was figuring it was at Thompson Center too. Bastards! Obfuscating the location to reduce public input! "
Back to the benches.
This is the fancy style benches that were only to be placed on Michigan Avenue. A big deal was made of these fancy benches a couple of years ago as the Michigan Avenue Chamber of Commerce went to the France Manufacturer to check them out and approve them.
Then when they were installed with advertising of stores that weren't on Michigan Avenue, the Chamber got mad and yelled at the Mayor. The Mayor yelled back, then the Mayor stuck it to the rest of the city with these beaches, saying "It's my city, I will do what I want to do"! I wonder who's making how much on this bus bench scam?
Now you will mainly find liquor ads on these benches instead of stores like Wal-Mart. It works well, get them to buy liquor instead of shopping at Wal-Mart, that's what tax Alderman DoNothing voted to increase this year and Wal-Mart doesn't have a store in the city. Plus, he needs the money for his 4% raise this year.
With everything flying, this garbage can flew a block away on the east side of Sheridan, landing on Columbia. This is the type of Garbage Can Alderman DoNothing promised to install for the community over 2 years ago at the corner of Lunt and Glenwood. Instead we get used boxes. See earlier story "SSA #24-Not at Work".
Here is the end of the line, the Mad Car. It made it to Albion and Sheridan.
Let's all pray the people who got hit, recovers.
