On Saturday, January 8th, take your tree or large bag of clean recyclables to a participating park!
The City of Chicago has embarked on a major recycling campaign to encourage the use of the City's recycling tools.  One of the first components of this campaign is the "Turn Green into Blue" program. The "Turn Green into Blue" program enables Chicago residents to recycle their Christmas tree at a participating Chicago Park District location on Saturday, January 8th, 2005 in exchange for a year's supply of Blue Bags. Please send this on to your co-workers, friends, and family.
Participating Park: Warren Park-6601 North Western Ave.

If the city would just collect the trees at a location that isn't a couple of miles away ...

This seems odd? Our very own, earth friendly Heartland wouldn't recycle?
