Do-it Yourself Facade Program-No Permit Needed
To really get something done on Morse Avenue, you have to do it yourself. Such is the case here at 1438-40 West Morse. This must be the property owner Mr. Lee... in the trench coat? That's what is listed on the records. The guy in the official looking blue silk jacket must be his licensed, union contractor?
I asked if this was his building? I asked if he had any permit to do this Facade tear-down project? I asked where the barricades and sidewalk block-off was? I asked a couple more questions, they kept going un-answered... he claimed not to understand. It's that darn fifteenth langauge I must speak? No visable permits were posted anywhere.
After finishing, yes this looks to be the finished product, Mr. Lee left the portable barricade behind. It is now lying on the sidewalk in front of the gated vacant storefront. The side of his building seems to be falling apart too. But wait there's more, we haven't even gotten to the back of the building yet.
Here we are... in back, the brick dumping ground, or better known as easy access gooning weapons. The owner didn't have a plan when he did his facade work, so this was the easiest place to hide the cache of broken bricks.
Where is our Alderman on this alleged, no-permit project? Where is DevCorp North? Where are the building inspectors? They were here a month ago. Where are the permits for this Facade Project, or is one not needed when working on Morse Avenue?
