* Mr.Block & West Nile Virus

Flood
It's the driest summer ever. City officials and news media are warning the residents of West Nile virus. Mosquito breeding opportunities look good here in one of Mr. Block's building parking lot's. This is the 1345 W. Lunt/1340 W. Morse property.

As you see Mr. Block has a drain pipe that sprung a leak causing the ceiling to collapse. This leak has turned into a flood of water that covers the parking lot, causing puddles of standing water.

This isn't new, it's been leaking for over two weeks. Chris his manager hasn't told Mr. Block I guess? So I will, Mr. Block, the ceiling has a hole, water is flowing out and it could cause the spread of the West Nile Virus. Besides getting leaking problem fixed, here is a tip from the city officials.

To limit mosquito breeding opportunities, Chicago Department Public Health officials recommend:

Making sure that downspouts are free of standing water.

West Nile Virus infection can cause a relatively mild illness called West Nile Fever, characterized by fever, muscle aches, rash and headache.

More severe West Nile illness is less common, but can include meningitis (inflammation of the membrane surrounding the brain) and encephalitis (inflammation and swelling of the brain itself).
