Last night another person was killed in 7353 N. Sheridan, mysterious death building. That's three in a year. This victim was a woman in her 50's. She was stabbed, bound and gagged.
Tribune reports a neighbor discovered the body of Barbara Demus about 7 p.m. Sunday after he realized the woman's front door had been open for much of the afternoon and went to investigate, said JoAnn Taylor, a police spokeswoman. Demus was in the bedroom of her apartment, in the 7300 block of North Sheridan Road in the Rogers Park neighborhood, Taylor said.

After everything that has happened there, Channel 9 news reported this morning that they found two unlocked doors to the building and had video of them entering the building and climbing stairs.
They were told that the owners of the building had increased security since last year. Where have we heard that before?
Has there been any evidence of gang activity in this building? I only ask because the idea of these being random killings is far more disturbing to me than being affiliated with other criminal activity.
They have video of who entering the building? (I'm not sure if you mean the residents or the assailants...)
This gets me to thinking about "Daisy" - is there anything that can be done to improve her security situation?

I think you were joking and forgive me if you were not. It was very funny. I think you've noticed that a few people around here think that if we get a new alderman everything will be better.
Will a new alderman dissolve the current infrastructure with a magic wand and rebuild it? No. There isn't enough tax revenue for sweeping changes.
Will a new Alderman be able to control all the development in the neighborhood? No. A lot of those decisions are made downtown and downtown isn't going to pay too much attention to a ward with a historically low voter turnout that generally votes democratic anyway. Don't get me wrong, if there is an issue that will effect us negatively we should make our voice heard but we need to think city wide not just our neighborhood. If we do that we'll seem like a neighborhood with good foresight.
In reality the only thing that is going to make this neighborhood better is continuous, responsible, hard work by EVERYONE. I hope you get involved if you haven't already. I am not worrying about ward politics as the election is years away. Start with your building, your block, your school, or whatever gets your attention.
