Really? Were they checking both interior and exterior doors? That is quite disturbing. Does anyone know the name of the building owner? I would be glad to contact them on behalf of the residents and the community at large.
Also, I think it would be great to send concerns to the alderman's office. I know that some people around here don't think that helps but I have had good experiences with them for the most part especially when dealing with Wayne (don't have his last name).

The last name is Frazer. Wayne Frazer.
So, you and the good experiences can call and ask Alderman Moore all you want. Ask him for your Turkey this thanksgiving too. He hands those out to his friends and voting stock....
Just making suggestions Craig. I'll try anything to make this a safer community. If it means that sometimes I end up beating my head against the wall, so be it. If you have any other suggestions, please post. Maybe calling the city and reporting building code violations? Calls to media? Whatever it takes. You might not like Joe, but, for the time being at least, he's what we've got and I will do my best to point him towards areas of concern.
If you are talking about Wayne Frazer, yes he is a good guy. I've had very few a camplaints with Wayne, Alicia or Kevin Cosgrove. I don't believe I've done one broken heart story on any one of those three staffers for Alderman Moore?
I agree that it's a good idea to bombard Joe with mail on this - he needs to hear from us all that the situation in this building must stop. And I also agree with Michael that we have to make the best use of resources available to us now , even if they are not perfect.
I'm also curious about what Nicki asked - what happened to her dog? Does anyone have any ideas who we can ask? Do you think the police would be allowed to tell us?
I have this horrible image in my mind of the dog witnessing that vicious bastard murdering her.

Does he really hand out turkeys? That's pretty funny if true...
