* Aunt Jan Hates Christmas

A week late resolution. This resolution was passed by the House of Representatives last week by an overwhelming vote of 401-22 last week.

The text of the resolution read as follows:

Whereas Christmas is a national holiday celebrated on December 25; and

Whereas the Framers intended that the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States would prohibit the establishment of religion, not prohibit any mention of religion or reference to God in civic dialog: Now, therefore be it resolved, that the House of Representatives –

(1) Recognizes the importance of the symbols and traditions of Christmas;
(2) Strongly disapproves of attempts to ban references to Christmas; and
(3) Expresses support for the use of these symbols and traditions, for those who celebrate Christmas.

Jan Schakowsy was one of 22 who voted NO to Christmas.

I wonder how she feels about the Easter Bunny?

Is it a 'liberal plot' or this country's latest craze which is 'political correctness'? What people should be getting fearful of is the rightwing religious business. If I recall, didn't a group of English people come here to avoid religious persecution and/or escape the monarchy? But then they got a little wacko and started burning 'witches' just as the mother country had done. Now we have to be 'religiously correct'. So put all the holiday religious symbols up and separate the church and the state.

It's a shame our money and her energy can't be spent in a more productive manner, like, impeaching a president who's breaking laws and rubbing it in our faces.

Hope you enjoy the blog Dubya.

ns guy - I'm sure W is trying to be an effective president but it's on his terms, and the unfinished business of big daddy and cronies. I have a difficult time figuring out where W is on my side in much of anything. Especially the unbalanced national budget and the low interest on my savings. He was like a teenage kid with someone else's ATM card and PIN. How many years will it take US to fix the debt? Remember, he didn't make it to any active duty anywhere either did he!

My fuss about separation of Church and State is the fact that it isn't ENFORCED. Why should tax dollars be wasted to argue about religious symbols? Put them up and let it be. Wasn't this nation created to embrace 'freedom of religion'?

Why was tax money spent to cover bare breasts on a statue? When someone at work jubiliantly announced that W won again, I replied my president is already in office. 8pm Wednesday, NBC, West Wing. Talk about a glazed look!
