* Supermarket Out Of Business

Another Business Bites the Dust
or
Easy Come, Easy Go

Hoping to find a more suitable line of work, like possibly foresty, the owners of BJU-African/Caribbean Supermarket closed shop on the Morse Avenue location.

The specialty supermarket was hoping to grab onto a niche with the street full of empty and gated storefronts but couldn't quite find the right touch, thus having to gate up their door with-in a year.

With such items as Kenke, Hard Chicken and Goat Meat, BJU-African/Caribbean offered those hard to get items you don't find at Jewel. It's not like they had alot of competition either.
(For those who never heard of "“kenke", my cook book search says it's produced from fermented cassava dough using IFT contains aflatoxin, a cancer-causing agent.)

As for the cut tree. RPneighbor spoke to Michael Land a few months ago and posted it on her blog about the cut tree. She was told that the owner of the African Supermarket was reprimanded for the tree destruction and he would be forced to pay for a replacement tree.

My guess us taxpayers are going to be forced to cover the whole cost of the tree destruction?

Hey, Bill, what coffee house would you be referring to? Isn't that the Ennui? Set me straight.

Ennui is closed for remodeling.....

I see that the tree removal really helped their business. I can't imagine what would have happened if their sign was obscured by that unsightly tree. Instant Karma.
