The community wants peace. But someone must pay for this murder. To be continued....

Well who wouldn't feel sorry for any mother who lost her child to violence? It's such a tragedy to lose a young person to gangs, and illicit gang activity, and then to violent death.

BUT, all this after the fact grief stuff does nothing. Not one thing. Only a society that has no tolerance for such, that does everything possible to make it difficult for gangs to operate from the parents to the schools to the police will have any impact. Do we think that the bangers who killed this guy are impressed with the displays of grief? Do we think that the young man's fellow bangers will "just give peace a chance" in reaction to the death of a comrade? Do we think that these marches by what appear (from Craig's photo array) to be a bunch of largely middle class white folk is going to do anything? If it weren't so horribly tragic it would be a South Park episode.

Outside of Julie and I, none of the other so called leaders reached out and talked or shook the hands of the young gang members in attendance last night. There were around a dozen of them, maybe more.

Leaders like Alderman Moore and Michael Harrington were too worried about their photo op.

The fact the leaders couldn't even have the circle prayer and ground cleansing at the exact location shows they must have been to afraid to go near the spot of death.

That's the shame.

Sure Alderman Moore comformed the mother as she joined in the prayer, but the leaders did nothing to comfort the young black kids with tears in their eyes.

These are the kids that need the comfort from someone other than the gangs. See, that's why they join the gang, for comfort and security. If our leaders won't give that to them they get it from with-in.

Julie was right, you don't see these kids cry in public that often. It was the most moving walk I have ever attended.

I doubt you fill out a written application to join a gang, Clyde, AKA Clive Flowers was running with a gang. My guess he was a GD and the Latin Kings did not like that. From the questions I asked, this was a cold blooded hit! This blog or the Howard Hell Hole is open for anyone to talk about what they know.

I really admire all of you who showed up for this and supported the victim's family and friends- not an easy thing to do. Shows alot of character- which I really respect alot.

John on Farwell is all happy about Craig's poop scooping and wrote: Thanks for picking up your dogs poo poo Craig. [end]

Which brings to mind a Chris Rock routine about hating [insert n-word which I'm not allowed to say cuz I'm not] for bragging about stuff like, oh, taking care of their kids. Chris says: "You're supposed to you dumb motherfucker. 'I ain't never been to jail.' Whaddya want? A cookie? You're not supposed to go to jail, you low-expectation-having motherfucker!"

With that said: Craig is supposed to big up his doggie doo doo, just like a whole bunch of us dog owners do. Residents are supposed to pick up trash on their property, like a bunch of us do. And we don't get a prize or a cookie because it's what we're supposed to do. And kids shouldn't be joining gangs, or hanging with gangsters, or getting arrested, or killing each other, and if they don't do these things they don't get a prize because you're not supposed to do these things. Enuf with the low-expectation stuff already.

police view:

Hopefully some of your co-workers will track down the shooter and you can give the neighbors his entire criminal history as well.
Then you can retire if you choose.

Very little time or energy has been spent discussing the killer. It's about time to get focused on the crime and the killer.
