Early voting has started and the primary elections are right around the corner. While many people are locked into a Alderman's race over a year away and don't pay a lot of attention to primaries, I hope you'll pay attention to this one and get out to vote.
There is a race on March 21st that will have a particular impact on issues important to Roger Park residents.
The race is for Cook County Board President. I am supporting Forrest Claypool to defeat John Stroger. John Stroger and his Chicago-style, clout-based cronyism need to go, and NOW. He is so completely a party hack that Stroger even supported Tom Hynes over Barack Obama in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate!
Roger Parkers pay a lot of money in property taxes to Cook County. All you need to do is visit one of our area cook county hospitals or clinics to realize we're getting ripped off. Stroger and his pals have been wasting our money on a broken Forest Preserve District, shameful Juvenile Justice Center, and a medieval Cook County Jail where 49th Ward democratic committeeman David Fagus (who supports Stroger) gets his paycheck.
We can't afford to let Stroger-style waste and patronage continue.
We can't continue to let violent prisoners escaping the Cook County jail.
We can't let prisoners keep shooting each other with guns that get smuggled in to the Cook County jail.
The Chicago Tribune agrees and just endorsed Forrest Claypool for Cook County President. The Chicago Tribune calls for a retraction to the slime-ball, negative television adds Stroger has been running against Claypool.
Forrest Claypool has a long history of doing the right things and bringing entrenched organizations, like the Chicago Park District, back on track. He can do the same thing for Cook County.
Please join me in supporting Forrest on March 21st. Most importantly, remember to vote on March 21st. I will have the Rogers Park Rangers out in force supporting Forrest Claypool, if you care to join us e-mail me at craiggernhardt@comcast.net. We will find something for you to do.

thomas-
well, that is indeed an interesting development.
Bob K.hopes....>"A message to DON GORDON - you had better jump on the Claypool bandwagon. "
Bob K. This other guy is weak. If he does back Claypool, he will follow my lead.
The other guy follows, he doesn't lead.
Well if you need another reason to hate Stroger that's in keeping with common concerns here, remember how he's treated the old Cook County Hospital. He's fought HARD against preservationists to tear that building down. Hasn't succeeded yet, hopefully never will have the chance now.
