The 'Defend Yourself' workshop was an idea of mine thanks to Eva McCann, Beat 2422 facilitator. Impact did a short version at the March 2005 CAPS meeting. At the time, thanks to certain people talking too long, the program was shortened. We discussed having a complete program for women so we wouldn't be interrupted. Following the November 2005 abduction of a young woman at Howard/East Lake Terrace, I got on the phone and started the legwork.

Granted, the fee was covered by both Moore and RPCC's Victim Advocacy Support Program, but most of the promotion was done prior to this by various organizations and the blogs.

Credit should be given to RPCC/Moore for funding it and credit to those who promoted it prior to this week.

BTW - I sent the flyer with Impact's colors - Lavender and Black not pink.

I'm sorry I can't stop by this Saturday, but I'll be out in Rosemont at the meeting of the Illinois State Council of the Vietnam Veterans of America, covering it for the newsletter I have edited for VVA Chapter #311 out in Des Plaines since 1992 (the Chapter's Treasurer is expected to be elected to the vacant State Council Secretary's post tommorrow).

Hopefully there will be other meetings that I can attend in the near future, as the community needs to seek out a fresh and viable alternative to the (insert your own insulting term here) regime of Joe Moore.
