* Special Parking For Special People

When I go to any community development meeting, I always hear the complaints from almost every neighbor who attends, all the complaining about the trouble of finding parking spaces. But lookie at the photograph above. While other's suffer when it comes to parking in Rogers Park, 49th ward democratic committeeman David Fagus gets a special spot in the Block building when he can't find a spot for his car down the street in front of his own condo.

* Parking is never a problem for Fagus.

As the community struggles with the multitude of problems in and around the 1345 West Lunt building, David Fagus can find a safe retreat for his auto, right next to the Ashland Viking Nation gang logo that has been there since David started parking in the Block building.

Look closely, David Fagus parks his car in Block building's - AVN's Killa King specially marked spot. I told you the gangs owned this building. If the Chicago Police did a contact card on Fagus, would that David's street name, Killa King?

Isn't that special - exclusive parking for Joe Moore's main political lapdog - David Fagus. It's no wonder we can't remove the gangs from the Block building. If we did, Moore's pal Fagus wouldn't have a safe spot to park.

Curious things about this tale you weave David.

Some 4 years ago a couple of people in my building told me they had been tossed out of the Block property parking, as it was for tenants in the building only.

Tenants only, huh?

Another thing about this tall tale David. If the Block building is renting parking, as you say, where's the sign on the building? At this moment there is over 20 empty spots to fill.

Oh, and one last thing David. Maybe now, I got someone's attention and the gang graffiti might finally get removed.

Hey Fagus, you like posting here? When are you going to open up your blog so we can discourse with you there, Mr. Online Sophisticate, Mr. Look-At-Me-Blog? You are not a Democrat or a democrat, you flaming hypocrite.

Keep it real, keep it personal, bro. How about a post detailing your personal experience with the US Attorney's office? Are they real friendly guys? What's it like to come to work and find the feds running a bucket brigade hauling boxes of documents out of your office? Have you been diposed yet? What was that like?

did Craig get it wrong?

Oh and our resident Brad Wheeler. Although I have yet to find you on a 49th ward voter roll. Thanks for religiously following my every move. I'll add you to my list of neighborhood stalkers.

Let me help you out regarding some comments that have long been deleted on the old forum49.

One, spelling the name Fagus on the old forum board would have looked like this F****S. So, I spaced out the letters like this, F A G U S so everyone knew who I was talking about. Cleaver, huh?

Two, as for the I'm a republican comment. Nice try. I too was and am against the war in Iraq. I saw through the Alderman's 'stop the war campaign' as a attention to him issue. And after the fact no less.

This is a national - heck this is a world issue, that's impact has very little to do with the issues of gangs, drugs, housing, health and real estate development in Rogers Park.

By the time his phony resolution passed, the war was 30 days old and people were already being killed by bombs.

Brad, thanks for being such a loyal follower of the Hell Hole. I hope this clears up a few issues you clearly had grossly distorted.

Dave Fagus:

Tell us the arrangement you got to hang your re-elect Fagus camapign banner from the side of the Block building during the 2004 election cycle? The one that faced the Morse Avenue EL.

Did you file that on your D-2 for what the rent was on that space?

David, if you rent a spot in the Block building, do you feel safe parking there with the gang bangers hanging out?

If you are in and out of the parking lot on a regular basis, why don't you help with cleaning up the building?

There ARE laws on the books making landlords accountable for illegal activities on their property.

David,

When I called 773-344-8931, the company that manages the block building (the guys name is chris), they tell me they only rent out to tenants. I even offered the man a large sum of money. He still refused. Why would they rent you out a spot and not me?

David,

I would NEVER park in that place unless, of course, I had somebody to watch out for my car. If I were your insurance agent I would feel a need to up your premium. But just for fun I just called the number that Jordan listed and was first told by a young man that it was $50/month and then he really paused and told me to call back tomorrow because he needed to talk to his boss to see if he could rent it out. Then he paused and said the parking was really tight and really only for residents. Again, he told me to call back tomorrow. Also, when I called the number the telephone was answered with a simple, "hello." It was not answered they way I answered the telephone when I worked for a property management firm. We had to announce the name of the company. I almost apologized for dialing the wrong number because it sounded like I had disturbed somebody in their home.

It is common knowledge that when you park your car in a high crime, drug dealing spot your car if it a nice one will be "played with" so to speak. rogerspark60645 you hit it on the head someone is watching the car so NO-ONE F**Ks with your car. So we wonder why nothing gets done to make the blobk building better. It is just looking at some facts makes for a interesting point.Let's hope we can vote some change into our ward.Maybe even a new aldermen!!

Yesterday I was driving my boss' red Lexus(I don't own a car myself) east on Greenleaf and 2 guys driving west in a small red car veered into my lane and forced me to get way over to the right side of the road. As they drove by me, they leaned right up to the window and stared me down.

No, I didn't get the plate and I didn't have a cell phone with me. Just another nice day in the neighborhood. At least no one got hurt- just rattled me a bit.

p.s. I called it in when I got to a phone.

"Mr. Fagus, the very fact that you rent a parking space from one of the worst, most notorious, gang affiliated and obviously politically connected bad building management companies in Rogers Park speaks volumes about what you stand for." Well said RP Dude.

Mr. Fagus...really, what are we supposed to think? If I were in politics I might find a different place to park simply because it LOOKS BAD. Please. Don't piss on me and tell me that it's raining.

I know for a fact that there are others than those who rent from that building that park there. Craig one of them is your own neighbor, I am sure you are aware that she parks there! However, regardless of whether Mr. Fagus is paying or not, I cannot fathom that he would not take a more active stance in aiding in the clean up of this building up. Mr. Fagus don't tell me you are unaware of what is going on around you?

Who's wondering? Come on, you're still wondering? If so, you are not keeping up.

Our Aldermen offer protection services to problem landlords. The owners of the so-called "Block" buildings, through their management company, are major campaign contributors.

With good friends like these, you wouldn't expect the bashful owners and the management company to be profiting from embarrassing problem building situations in our neighborhoods.

Illinois State Board of Elections

Once you find campaign contributions like this, neighbors need strategies to deal with a problem landlord that do not involve a corrupt politicians.

So please stop wondering.
