* Mr. Rider's Broken Promises & Broken Windows
For property owners, outside appearance is everything when you own. It's a vanity type of deal, you know. Everyone wants the best looking place on the block. Am I right? When something is broke - you fix it. Isn't that why there's places called Clark/Devon Hardware, or the big box retailers - Home Depot, Lowes and Menards?
Question? How long would most of you allow a broken window in your home to remain looking like this? One hour or two - maybe a day at the most. Well for Mr. Harold Rider and his 1340 West Morse Avenue property, it's been over two weeks already. Lucky it's been a warm December, otherwise he'd be raising the rent to off-set the higher gas bill.
Broken windows not only are dangerous - they look like crap.
At the Harold Rider building, if you look at some of the windows, you'd wonder if the building was in some sort of a war zone? Or a crack den? So, over the next few weeks I'll be featuring our neighborhood slumlord Mr. Rider and his 'broken promises' to make the neighborhood a safer place.
It's a new year and we're still dealing with the same old problems. Alderman Moore may think he's got the situation under control. Alderman Moore may have even suckered you into believing he's doing all he can with his fancy press release. Looking at the Rider building will tell you much different story.

I also noticed the podiatrist on Morse and Glenwood got their window broken last night I assume. Last year someone got thrown thru the window of the vacant storefront on Morse and Glenwood across from Cameo Cleaners.
But, there was almost no litter anywhere. SSA guys perhaps?
Day 6: No endorsement.
Somehow I think Craig wants another four years of the Mooron.
