* What I Learned

Tonight, while I was watching Alderman Moore on the television, I learned...

When fat-cat developers and slumlords like Jay Johnson, Connie Abels, Rich Aronson or Robert Coe give Alderman Moore money, it doesn't influence his vote.

That's good to know.

What channel was this on... the Sci-Fi Channel or Comedy Central?

Don't forget the $100k he 'gives' to the various nonprofits and his back to school vote purchase. That's why the nonprofits aren't progressive, they have the iron hand of regression threatening them. If you don't do what the gang tells ya then watch yer back mentality.

He tried to wiggle out on the $400k war chest when Carol Marin said 'no, it's nearly that amount'. See, just can't lie to smart women!

Joe Moore: "Did you see the Arenda Troutman perp walk? Do you see anyone trying to slap cuffs on me? See? That PROVES there's NO CONNECTION!"

i thought it was a poor showing by all candidates last night. Go figure. maybe it's a reflection of our ward--if so, God help us all...

Moore: I Have Not Been Indicted Yet

"None of my opponents has been able to make any connection between campaign contributions and any decisions I've made."

By which I suppose Moore means no one has made a case like the Feds made for Troutman. OF COURSE the burden for putting Moore away in stripped suit like his campaign manager is MUCH higher than the burden for putting him out of office. He's right, we don't have him on a wire, yet. Well, how stupid does Moore think we are? Moore's CONSTITUENTS have connected the dots.

The one issue Moore can't run away from: He's dirty.

Joe, who you crappin'?

Joe Moore; It's Not All About Me

"And that money doesn't all go to me. It goes to community groups, like the back-to-school picnic."

I've just taken a quick pass through Citizens For Joe Moore's expenditures. I estimate a fraction of 1% goes to causes that might be considered "community groups." Maybe Ann Sullivan is a "community group," I dunno.

If he brings this up again, I think the thing to do is ask him what % goes to community groups.

Of course, Ginderske is the only one not accepting contributions from any developers in THIS election. Moore and Adams don't deny their developer support, and Gordon only promises that next time (should there be a next time) he'll run without them.

It seems a little weird that in the middle of the current campaign, Gordon is making ethical promises of what he'll do in some future hypothetical run for office, and expecting kudos for it. If there really is something to be said for not taking developer money, why doesn't he start walking the walk now instead of promising to be better next time? If he wants to run a truly independent campaign, which would be good, there's no better time than now.

let's face it--the 49th ward won't be any better anytime soon. we are being f*cked sideways with a very blunt screwdriver...

Jarvis - I agree. RP is so screwed up the winner will have more than a full time job trying to get it somewhat straight in 4 years. Reminds me of the upcoming prez elections. When a Dem gets in again look at the mess he/she will have to clean up.
