* Where's Alderman Moore?

After 16 years in office, what is Joe Moore's legacy to Rogers Park?

He banned foie gras from the menus of upscale restaurants not located in the ward.

He gave himself a 20% raise to more than $115,000 a year.

He allowed Rogers Park to lose 800 jobs over a five-year period.

He gave special treatment to developer campaign contributors who knock down homes.

He sat back as Rogers Park hit 15th highest in the number of murders when compared to all like-sized U.S. communities.

He created a climate where businesses avoid Rogers Park, leave or fail.

What has happened during Moore's reign?

Under Moore, Rogers Park is 47th out of 50 wards in total city services.

Under Moore, Rogers Park schools got $0 out of $1 billion in new city funding.

Under Moore, Rogers Park average annual incomes dropped by $5,000.

Under Moore, Rogers Park loses retail business and sits with dozens of empty storefronts.

Joe Moore sits on the sidelines when he should be working on the ward's behalf. Instead he finds plenty of time to engage in pay-to-play politics.

Bottom line: Rogers Park suffers.

Rogers Park deserves better. Rogers Park deserves an alderman with a positive view and workable agenda for a safe and vibrant community. Rogers Park needs Chris Adams.

Chris Adams is focused on progress.

Good question to the whereabouts of the incumbent. We only see him at election time unless he graces us with a little meeting.

In the real world, it's called accountability. It should be in the 49th world too.

Adams is a weasel

toni, you need to learn the difference between responsibility and accountability.

Joe is responsible for all of the positive aspects of our neighborhood.

Joe is not accountable for all of the negative aspects of our neighborhood.

This is the consistent message that His office has been giving us the last couple of months.

You are right though that Joe does not grace us enough with His immense presence more regularly. Only during an election year, and I've already explained the reasons why on my blog.

As for Tepid Adams. Voting for him would be like voting for Ulysses S. Grant - weak and ineffectual, a puzzled pathos, as of a man with a problem before him of which he does not understand the terms.

Couch captain - I wouldn't say weasel. Mr. Adams is a journalist. He takes a hint of a rumor, embellishes it with his own fantasy then uses it as a cudgel in a "gotcha" encounter. Of course, if he bothered to check out the facts, he would have kept his mouth shut. But, heck, I've never known a journalist to be reticent to spread gossip and paper it as fact.

> Moore has carved out a niche on the City Council as a progressive independent.

another example of "a journalist [taking] a hint of a rumor, embellishes it with his own fantasy"

Rogers Park needs something new. Vote Republican. That's new.
