* 49th Ward Turn-Out, One Word - PATHETIC

Last Tuesday was not a proud day for voter turn-out in the 49th ward. Many wards did much better. The 49th was barely above the City-wide average of 33%. The 49th ranked 18 out of 50 wards in terms of percent voter turn-out . This is something we need to work on. We can do better! Registration is open again. Find and register and TURN OUT two neighbors who did not vote last Tuesday. Leaving voter registration to David Fagus is not working.

The 'Broken Heart' Blognotes: 49th ward committeeman David Fagus is not doing what the citizens of the 49th ward elected him to do. I put in a request to David Fagus about when voter registration would re-opened and close.

Mr. Fagus could NOT answer that question.

Mr. Fagus had time to spin his dribble in a dozen different directions. His notes on replacing Stroger with Stroger were laughable. His notes on how he earns his paycheck were hysterical. His "What's good for the goose is good for the gander," comment had me rolling on the floor laughing. But that's not why we elected him. Although some may think voting is a joke, I don't.

Randall Sherman from the 'Citizens for Better Government' answered the question for us. Anyone who hasn't registered, has until March 20th to do so. It's so easy to do these day's - why doesn't the majority of the 49th ward do it?

Changes of address are also important so if you have new neighbors make sure they have changed their official address.

I was glad to help (which is more than the committeeman seems to be able to do). By the way, for the record, thae name of the organization that I serve as Secretary/Treasurer of is the Illinois Committee for Honest Government.

The Gordon campaign should arrange to have a table set up in Centennial Forum at Loyola. That is the Student Union. The students are on spring break this week but they'll be back next week. You can always find them at Hamilton's too.

can't do it at loyola. i'm sure you could have a registration drive, but it could not be sponsored by gordon. it's against school policy to appear to endorse a candidate
