* A Friend Remembers Danny Roberts

CHICAGO (WBBM) -The story of Daniel Roberts, who died in a Rogers Park gangway last summer and was buried as an indigent because his family and friends did not claim him.

WBBM's Steve Miller has a follow-up.

We wanted to share an email from a South Elgin man named Fred Kavanagh, who did not know Daniel Roberts had died:

"I would like to thank you for the heart felt story about Danny Roberts. Although he might have gone unclaimed he truly was loved by at least one non family member.

"I was his best friend when we were growing up. We spent many summers together either fishing or riding mini bikes through the alleys of Evanston.

"Everyone liked Danny.... He was unselfish and would always come to the aid of the less fortunate.

"He was the best man at my wedding and although we partied hard it seemed like we always had a good time.

"Unlike Danny, I was able to leave alcohol behind and we grew apart.

"My Mother always told me to 'look for the best in people,' and as far as I'm concerned he was the best!"
