* A Message From Eva McCann

Dear Neighbors and Friends,

I would like to thank all of you who helped to recruit people to go to court and all of the participants who attended court yesterday for the Jay Johnson building on Marshfield. We had about 20 people who showed.

I hope this sends a message to Jay Johnson and other slum lords in our neighborhood that we will no longer tolerate buildings that are hazardous to the tenants as well as the surrounding neighbors. Whether it is a non functioning smoke detector in the common areas, ceilings falling due to leaky pipes or drug dealers hanging in and around the buildings, they, as landlords, are creating dangerous situations that need to be rectified before more lives are needlessly lost or injured.

Thank you again for your support.

Eva,
Thanks for your good work on this matter! Hopefully this is the beginning of a 'new' era and the end of the 'old' way of doing business in our community! As we all know, there are a number of other multi-unit properties in our immediate neighborhood in need of immediate Dept. of Housing/Code Compliance scrutiny. Hopefully, this will get underway before another tragedy!

Eva - Thank you for organizing the community presence at this court hearing and for speaking out on camera. I hope that media attention can continue to shed light on the murky stuff that Jay and Joe would rather keep hidden.
