No mention of the fire or of hearings.

Alderman Carother's isn't too cooperative in Hugh's investigation on this matter?
Carothers is chair of Police & Fire, so I stopped his office to try and find out what exactly happened 12/20/06. I was not successful. But the cops who escorted me out of my City Hall got a little chatty in the elevator ride down.
"Don't give up," big cop with Murphy on his chest says. "Keep after them." Momentarily I think he might be sympathetic. "What are you working on?" he asks.
A fire in my neighborhood in which 6 children died, and I can't even get a straight answer from my home town's elected representatives on whether or not a hearing was held, I explain.
"Was that the fire North of Howard? The hispanics?" he asks. Yeah, I say.
"What do you suppose was said in that hearing? There was a fire." he asks. "What is your interest in this? What do you hope to accomplish? I mean, I suppose there's the humanitarian aspect ... "

Section 2.06 requires a public body to keep minutes of all open meetings. Minutes must
include, but need not be limited to: "(1) the date, time and place of the meeting; (2) the
members of the body recorded as present or absent; and (3) a summary of discussion on all
matters proposed, deliberated or decided, and a record of any votes taken." 5 ILCS 120/2.06(a). ...
Subsection 2.06(b) requires that minutes of open meetings be made available for public
inspection within seven days of approval of such minutes by the public body.

Each committee of the City Council shall cause to be kept a record of its proceedings; and whenever a roll call is had by any committee the record shall plainly indicate the vote of each member thereon. A roll call shall be had on any matter at the request of any member of the committee. Committee records shall be filed on a monthly basis in the Office of the City Clerk and the Legislative Reference Bureau and shall be open to public inspection.
