Is Don Gordon willing to continue to fight the uphill battle to unseat Joe Moore through the legal system? At this point, I know all the answers, and more. But this question - what would you do if you were in Don's running shoes?
UPDATED: At 1pm, the board of elections will count the final precinct on Pershing Road. I'll have my details later.

Keep fighting.
There are, I hear, two hundred missing ballots, in addition to many other irregularities and violations of the law that occurred in many precincts.
This is too close an election, with too many doubts about the validity of the results, to lie down and die now.
Wow, Don is truly desperate now. I think I'm going to go around the corner to the Dagel and Beli and order one of the famous "Don Gordon for Alderman" sandwhiches.
Personally I find a couple of things kind of funny:
1. After sixteen years, how the heck can an alderman express pride at getting BARELY more than half the votes from his constituents? It's particularly comical that he had to bring in hundreds of troops from the unions and throughout the city, and pull every slimy stunt known to man simply to achieve that.
2. None of it matters much, given that nobody will see Joe for another four years, unless, of course, anyone bothers to peek under his rock.
It's just sad that, while Joe runs an effective campaign, he is not by any measure a good alderman.
Hi Nathan,
If this is really who you say you are, which I'm tending not to believe, have your father email me with a permission slip to leave comments from now on.
And let me ask you something, did pop's pay you a living wage? Nevermind, that was a joke, you don't need to answer.
Don't forget, get the note from your dad.
Nathan: Why don't you also step next door and get some wine and cheese from the new wine and cheese store.
Oh. Wait. Joe put a halt on his license because the owner supports Don.
Or perhaps you would prefer to simply go fuck yourself?
Keep fighting...still one precinct out and MANY problems yesterday that warrant looking at this election more closely.
Craig, what was the outcome of the investigations into the illegal tactics Moore employed during the February campaign, i.e. entering the nursing homes during early voting, etc.? I thought Lisa Madigan's office was looking into that but I've never heard a breath of this on the news or in the mainstream media. Any information on that?
By the way, I know we want a recount but is Gordon's camp officially asking for one? I haven't heard anything about that in the news either.
Let's see; a list of a couple thousand registered voters from every one of the ward's 42 precincts who had moved, were dead, were registered from vacant buildings or were registered from empty lots. When people on those lists came to vote, a pollwatcher properly challenged that voter and requested that the voter be given a provisional ballot. The election judges disregarded the law and their instructions, allowing these individuals to cast regular ballots and apparently allow election fraud to run unabated.
The Don Gordon campaign has reportedly gathered detailed eviledence as to this apparent pattern of ignoring the law. IF this is proven to be the case, I suspect many election judges could face criminal charges for official misconduct, conspiracy and assorted violations of the Illinois Election Code. SHOULD this matter reach that point, it would be extremely likely that a number of these judges would jump at the opportunity to turn state's evidence (in order to avoid jail time for themselves) and spill the beans on the masterminds of this apparent plot to defraud the democratic process.
I suspect that this matter is far from over.
Can Craig or anyone please tell me what is happening with the investigations into Moore's illegal behavior during the February vote? IS Lisa Madigan's office looking into this? If so, at what stage is the investigation? Lastly, why is NONE of this being mentioned in the news media?
Nothing happened. Zip. No one cares.
How can that be? I thought evidence was produced, witnesses etc.? How can Madigan's office just ignore this? Illegal is illegal, right? Where's Gordon on this then. Surely he's not just letting this go? IS HE?
What fedup dem mentioned above isn't close to what I witnessed and reported to the BOE and Don's people...it's EXACTLY what I witnessed in the 28th precinct! (and heard is what happened at Gale) I really hope Don's suits are working on this today.
It woudl also be nice if someone from Don's group would let us know that they are taking up the matter and what, if anything, we can do to help!
someone needs to feed these stories to someone at the trib or sun times, madigan and politicians only do something when people start talking, after all they are politicians
OK! I just got off the phone with a woman named Liz at the Citizens to Elect Don Gordon office and asked her directly about the improprieties. She informed me of the following:
A. Don HAS NOT conceded the election!
B. They did witness several illegal actions and are currently working closely with the Attorney General's office and the Board of Elections Office
C. Don has already spoken to two news outlets already today and was being interviewed by Chanel 2 during my phone call
D. They are drafting a letter and will post it to the web site later today. They will also mail copies of the letter out to all the volunteers.
It looks like this race isn't over after all. Wahoo! Go Go Gordon!
to nathan moore and thomas westgard:
if this ward is 90 percent democratic, then how did tony peraica get so many votes? he didn't get only 10%.
your father is a clown nathan. did you see his act on chicago tonight? are you proud to be a part of his absurd campaign tactics? are you aware of some of your fathers donors?
probably not nathan, but 50% of the ward were fooled.
The Chicago Board of Elections reports that 7,791 ballots were cast in the 49th ward aldermanic election yesterday.
A large number of allegations of voting irregularities have been raised in the 49th ward. This challenges the integrity of the election. We will have a formal statement tomorrow.
Thank you,
Michael Harrington, Chair
Citizens To Elect Don Gordon

By the way, the law states that if you show up on election day with proper ID you can express your constutinal rights and vote by provisional ballot. So people you cannot stop a person from voting. you can only challenge the count. Once a provisional ballot has been certified by the BOE it must be counted. I will always hold those counting the votes responsible for the election results. See "Hizonner" if you have a problem with the count. We all know how DA mayor feels about the guy they call Captain Clueless.
