* Sellers Heart JM

Reader submitted photo and cut-line.

Picture says it all: "I hate RP so much I'm selling and getting out of dodge.... but I love JM!" Not caught on photo was the drug transaction that took place between customer and dealer behind seller's house between garages. I would have called police so crime would have been reported, but since drug dealers heart JM too, I didn't think it would do much good.

The back story to the picture that the JM signs just appeared. Seller did not actually put them up and no one asked his permission to put them up. Tomorrow I hope to have another cute photo op for you. I have to take pic when home owners aren't at home. ;-) Btw, JM signs are sprouting around our blocks like crocuses. And in parkways. :-(

I saw another one like this over on Ridge north of Morse this weekend. This is Fargo posted about some suspicious signs also over on Fargo.

How do you know that the homeowner didn't request the sign?

And how does mcInoh know that signs are on unauthorized property?

Gordon supporters have been taking down Moore signs they consider to be on unauthorized property this would explain why I've been hearing alot of complaints from homeowners and such that their Moore signs are being stollen.

Gordon people - please stop stealing Moore supporters signs!

One lady - down by Greenview and Greenleaf has even gone so far as to make a sign that reads - the more you steal my signs - the more determined I am to vote for Moore.

If the sign is on a parkway, or other public property, it is illegal.

If the sign is on the lawn of a publicly-subsidized apt bldg, or in another common area thereof, it is also illegal.

Ok. Let's get the facts. The homeowner featured in the photo was asked if they authorized the JM sign. They did not.

As for the JM signs at Estes and Greenview: homeowners have made assumptions about their signage but it seems to be kids who have been knocking down/stealing signs btwn hours of 11- 6 a.m. Probably the same ones who have been destroying their fence on the Greenview side.

I disagree with you five oh blog, I can not say if this is happening, but I cna say that I have talked to several home owners on my block and they all never were asked to have Joe Moore signs placed on their property over the last 24 hours. 5 homeowners removed these signs last night, and this morning all five were placed back in the exact same spot. This is what I consider illegal tactics in the ward. Signs placed on public property are also illegal no matter what. I am trying to rent my place out and I made the mistake of placing my rent sign on the grass between the street and the sidewalk. The sign was rmeoved, without notice or a heads up. My mistake, but these signs are to be removed period. The property owners need to be asked first of course, but I ask them and not one has told me Joe Moore or themselves authorized the signs. We remove them and they reappear. Not a single call, or anyone asking for support with these signs, just them showing up on home owners land without authorization. these are what we are talking about. As far as the removal or stealing of signs, ya it happens, humans cna be bad on both ends, but I am strictly talking about unauthorized signs found on land that are not supposed to be there, period.

Pamela - do you ever consider that the homeowner is lying to you?

I know that house - it's in the 22nd Precint. I know they requested the sign because I FILLED OUT THE SIGN REQUEST.

I spoke to the husband. I said can we count on your vote for Moore? He said yes - he said his wife was undecided.

I said: we need you to put up a yard sign. He said go ahead. Place them outside the fence.

Enough said. If people know you're a Gordon supporter they'll often lie to you. You might have spoken to the wife. But the husband definitely authorized that sign.

Now as to chicagoredwing2b - a lot of times on person in the home will say "YES" to the sign but doesn't inform the other family members.

Ok, fiveoh, I'll call the homeowner N%$# and tell him you said that he's a liar. What's your name so I can relay the facts to him?

Joe Moore praises neighbors and police for shutting down drug market
Busts near Howard El station the latest in a series of successful operations

Dear Neighbors,

Community cooperation with police has produced another neighborhood victory in the war on crime and drugs, and the new "blue light" safety cameras played a decisive role in the operation.

An open-air drug market was shutdown, gang members were arrested and drugs and cash were seized during raids on Wednesday, March 28. The market was operating in the area bordered by Sheridan, Clark, Rogers and Juneway Terrace.

Police report the raids were the result of a 2-month investigation. Fourteen people were charged in connection with the busts. Police also seized a total of 31.6 grams of crack cocaine and $2,200 in suspected drug money.

On behalf of our entire community, I want to personally thank Commander Bruce Rottner and the brave officers of the 24th District who put these gang members out of action. One of those officers, Lieutenant Varrick Douglas of the Narcotics and Gang Enforcement Section, said a new blue light safety camera recently installed by police at Howard and Ashland was critical to the success of their mission.

Community involvement was the other key in making the raids a success. We thank those brave community residents who helped lead the police to the criminals and helped make the streets safer for all of us.

Past cooperation between neighbors and police has lead to the recent shutdown of drug markets in the 1300 block of West Morse, the 1300 block of West Lunt, the 7500 block of North Hoyne, and the 7600 block of North Sheridan.

We continue to work to make community cooperation with the police the center of Rogers Park crime-fighting activity. We have installed anti-crime blue light safety cameras at sites around the neighborhood to help police function with more effectiveness.

These raids remind us all what the police can accomplish when they have the support of the community. I will continue to support their great work by giving them the tools necessary to get the job done, tools like the safety cameras. I hope everyone will join the fight by reporting illegal activity, wherever and whenever they see it.

At times, I know, these long investigations can seem frustrating to community residents who see crimes occurring but don't always see arrests being made. As a father of two sons, I sometimes share that frustration. But I also know that these longer investigations are more likely to result in convictions that get gang members off our streets for good. I encourage you to have patience and to continue to work with your local CAPS Beat organization, with the police and with me and my staff as we continue our work at making our neighborhood safer.

Sincerely,

Joe Moore

I continually remove illegally posted JM signs everyday. The recent ones were in the empty flower pots on Howard Street and taped signs to every vacant building that JM says he is turning into bustling businesses for our community.

My experience is that these signs are at least sometimes put up by people who have no idea who lives in or owns the property they are putting them on. Therefore, these Joe Moore signs are not always a reflection of the owner's opinions or intent to support or vote for Joe.

I had found and removed unauthorized Joe Moore signs 4 times from an apartment building I own before finally catching the guy putting them up. He was putting them onto the private courtyard by reaching in from the sidewalk through a wrought iron fence. He said he did not live in the area and he was just doing a job. He did not seem to even know who Joe was.

It's great that Joe Moore supporters are too embarassed to admit they support him.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion about who would be the better person to run the 49th ward. If one isn't sure enough of his or her opinion maybe the wrong person is being supported.

Don't start the harassment bit; these are Chicago politics. There are overzealous people on both sides. I wear a Gordon button...

Our building has Gordon signs on each floor and a banner. There's absolutely NO need to trespass here, the message is GO GORDON. I've been asking voters if they want a sign, if they say yes, fine. If they say no, I say thank you. Period.

Moore and his minions do NOT RESPECT THE NEIGHBORS OR THE WARD.

Mr. Moore writes about the open air drug market, "The market was operating in the area bordered by Sheridan, Clark, Rogers and Juneway Terrace." Quite a large area/portion of the ward don't you think?...

Picture says it all: "I hate RP so much I'm selling and getting out of dodge.... but I love JM!"

Yellow journalism, what if the owner is dying and has to sell, or it is a senior citizen ready to sell, or someone has to move because of a new job in another city?

Why are these signs "suspicious"? If Gordon does the same act he's is magnificant, but if JoMo does it, hes illegally hanging signs.

Its ok for Gordon's supporters to take down another candidates signs, but if JoMo did that, you be up in arms.

North side liberals, the entitled, the whites in the neighborhood that can tear down other signs and shout democracy, but the Acorn people, minorities are trashed.

Must pay to be wealthy and liberal and live in RP.

This makes me want to switch back to JoMo.

Dorothy -- the homeowner is selling because they want to. They are fortunate to have choices in life and their choice is to move to Costa Rica for their retirement. The previous owners of that house, who raised their kids there, also sold and left the area for New Mexico. Sad that so many long-time residents decide they just don't want to deal with RP and Chicago anymore and leave for other points. Sad also that there are people who don't have these kinds of nice choices and are stuck in horrible buildings with lousy landlords who give Joe money to keep the city off their backs.

DorothyParker007 said...

Pamela I got this quote from craig's post so talk to him about why the person is selling, you just supported my point, thanks.

DorothyParker007 said...

Pamela you state: Sad that so many long-time residents decide they just don't want to deal with RP and Chicago anymore and leave for other points.

Can you prove this statement, this is pretty darn arrogant.

You said "Sad also that there are people who don't have these kinds of nice choices and are stuck in horrible buildings with lousy landlords who give Joe money to keep the city off their backs. "

Why can't these people move? Does Joe have a gun to their head? Why do people continue to live in this building you speak of? ARe yuo implying that they are stupid and not capable of moving? How are they stuck? If they are STUCK, Pamela why don't you go over there and volunteer to help them move? IF the tenants are so upset why aren't they doing something about it. Why odn't you all get out of your liberal homes and go help these people.

If you think Gordon is going to change this, you are from a cute white suburb where life is sweet and smell like a rose.

This is RP help it change don't be an arm chair liberal, do something:))))
