The Common Cup - "Offering food, drink and community in the heart of Rogers Park."
The Common Cup is Rogers Park's newest independent coffee shop on the corner of Morse and Greenview. They are located just a block west from the Morse Ave EL and a short walk from the Rogers Park Metra stop. On-street metered parking is available on Morse Ave.
The Common Cup is officially open for business. At 6am on Monday, May 14, they opened our doors to the Rogers Park community for the first time.
Stop in on for a great start to your work day, meet your friends for ice cream and espresso, or gather your study group for some evening cramming. Enjoy a steaming cup of locally roasted Intelligentsia coffee or espresso drink, savor a hot cup of soup with a fresh-baked baguette, or pick out your favorite toppings for some of the tastiest ice cream around.
Here's the Common Cup's Website.

I recommend the yogurt parfait's
I favor the, hot, out of the oven, chocolate muffins.
I see Tommy Mannis has already trashed the place on his blog. Boy oh boy.
Syd,
If you are referring to Tom Mannis of http://rogersparkbench.blogspot.com, I couldn't find any such trashing. In fact, I couldn't find any reference to the Common Cup one way or the other.
But I did spot Mr. Mannis at the Common Cup the other day while I spent a couple of hours over there working. He was there for quite a while meeting people and whatnot. I didn't see him spit anything out or walk out in a huff. He seemed very content, like everyone else in the place, including myself.
In addition to offering very nice things to eat and drink, the people at the Common Cup are very warm and welcoming. They greeted many people who came in by name. They were especially kind to a mom who came in with a baby. I also noticed they had several high chairs, so this is obviously a family friendly place.
I will definately be giving these guys my business because I believe it is important to support local business owners. HOWEVER, on my two visits there, I wasn't very impressed. Both times the coffee was not good. First time, hot coffee not so good. Secoond time, iced coffee, quite bitter (usually a result of not using enough coffee per cup of water). I am very happy to see that they offer inteligensia, an outstanding quality coffee, but they are not giving it the justice it deserves.
It's still early in the game, and I'm hoping they just need some time to get things up to par, but considering it's a coffee shop, it's pretty important that the coffee is good. (Pastries by the way are excellent, but those are provided by a third party vendor as I understand it).
Also, it may just be me, but I feel the layout of where you order your coffee, get your coffee, and then condiments section seems unnatural...you start in the middle and then have to go back and forth to either side...it's a little awkward.
clb - Practically every coffee house in the city uses third party vendors for their pastries, and most bakeries and patisseries also use third party vendors for stuff like croissants. But you are super well informed, so you knew that, right?
I am all for high quality standards, especially regarding bread and coffee, but jeez, you are a tough critic. The fact that they are friendly, that the place is clean, comfortable, centrally located near an el stop, has abundant natural light, is child friendly, serves soup and ice cream, sells Intelligensia whole beans and has fast free wireless wasn't enough to offset that you had to travel in a slightly non-linear fashion to get your beverage or that your coffee wasn't exactly to your liking the two times to tried them?
I agree with your other comment though. They just opened. They are obviously trying to be a quality operation. Give them a chance to ramp up. Perhaps let them know next time how you like your coffee made. Or kindly offer them tips, since you seem to know a lot about it.
