* The Gooners are Back in Business

This was sent to me from a business owner on Morse Avenue:

Craig,

A friend of mine was walking home from the Morse 'L' on Friday at around 9:45pm when he was approached by group of youth near the intersection of Greenleaf & Ashland.

They beat him up pretty good and took his palm pilot, ipod, and wallet. The credit card from his wallet was used to purchase $2,000 worth of stuff from a video game store within an hour.

Police were able to make 2 arrests and he was able to positively ID the apprehended suspects. The court date is this Friday, 1:30PM at Belmont and Western.

BLOGNOTES: The newly reformed Rogers Park Neighbors are calling for court advocacy on this arrest.

okay, i'm typically opposed to the death penalty, but when it comes to these little f*ckers assaulting people, I have no sympathy. if they can't grow up, then they should rot in hell. or we should at least have permission to slap the shit out of their parents...

What video game score would sell $2000 worth of gear, charged on a credit card, to individuals who don't look anything like the ID picture on the card-holder's license?

I mean, the sales clerk needs to be checking the ID on something like that, right? Right???

I'm guessing the same type of store owner that would sell cheap booze to a seriously mentally ill senior citizen - one who's on most likely on medication and walks in the store with pennies, nickels and dimes, wearing nothing more than a hospital gown. Pennies, nickels and dimes that's been collected by panhandling for hours on Granville and Winthop?

That type of store owner.

ahem...

perhaps the store attendant is a 'friend'.

therefore no need to 'see' an id or driver's license.

be warned as well of the group of A*Holes who will walk up to your dog as he's doing his business and try to scare it by stomping and lunging at him. I've had that happen twice now. Scaring a little or medium sized dog just shows how miserable these little fucks are.

Well, in any case, somebody (or more than one "somebodys") at that video game store has got some 'splainin to do.

To underachiever, I asked the same question in other words when I was mugged at knifepoint and practically murdered in another city long ago.

How, I asked, was some criminal able to put another $800 on my charge plate within an hour of the crime when I only had $50 available credit left on it? And how was some female who didn't look anything like me in any way able to kite my checks allover St. Louis? (I had thankfully closed the acct the morning after the mugging.)

At a grand jury hearing at which I was asked to prove that the signature on the checks was not mine (no similarity in the handwriting whatsowever), I asked the elderly proprietress of the victimized convenience store why, if she knew the check kiter, she did not call the young woman on writing checks that were definately not hers?

And why did the prosecuters not ask the kiter where she obtained the checks? She was writing mine , and those of another woman who had hers stolen in a really viscious assault that left her badly injured.

These are the questions that come up at every crime like this. There are dozens of small merchants who are so hungry for biz they will do things like take credit purchases for large amounts of money for no i.d., and take questionable checks with no i.d., then feel agrieved when the checks bounce and the credit card issuer doesn't pay. I don't feel sorry for business proprietors who are victimized if they take no steps to identify people who are obviously using questionable credit cards and checks.

Was that Granville liquiors that sold the booze to the menally ill person?

The two owners of the liqiuos stores on both corners wonder why people in the neighborhood closed them down. They are both doing very little business now.

Interesting that none of you caught this, How odd that North Coast, a Gordon supporter would make such a hurtful racist momment.

North coast did you say kite your checks? I've not seen anything racist from you before but that comment makes you a real low life. Or if you're too stupid to know that kite is offensive to our Jewish brothers and sisters you should know it. It's like calling me a ni**er. Are you a quiet Klan member or just a person without a clue?

BTW I agree with Jarvis and everybody else. I'd like to bring in the national guard.

People messing with dogs? Is there no limit to these inhumans.

More Condos please I don't think these people are upcoming homeowners. They of course are the result of years of neglect. They should be removed from our earth.

Come on Capt. Stir the Pot,

You've got a serious problem, much like Westgard the race-baiter.

Robert Creamer got convicted of check kiting. It has nothing to do with, race, creed or color. Go play with Tom and Charlie. You're wearing out your welcome here.

Couch Captain, what a dumbshit you are.

You are confusing "kite" (verb) which is the word I used, with "kike" (derogatory noun), which I agree is a very nasty racist term and one I NEVER EVER USE.

I never use racist terms, and am certainly not an anti-semite. My ancestors are mostly German Jews, down to my great-grandfather on one side of my family, and I have dozens of Jewish cousins.

What an uninformed idiot you are. Get your slang straight, stupid.

The North Coast said...

I can add that "kite" means "float" or "fly" , which is pretty much what you are doing when you pass a bad check.

That is why it is referred to as "kiting".

couch captain you were really reaching. how embarrassing for you but don't fret. get off that couch and kite away for it's a beautiful day.

Catherine on Eastlake said...

oh my god... i weep for the future of mankind.

Couch Captain said...

North coast it looked to me like you miss spelled the racist term you were looking for. I was surprised cause I've never seen that type of crap from you before. So you're telling me that flying a kite has a money based slang reference. I've never heard that one. I guess when you're not involved in racist know-how you might miss a term or two.

Embarassed, hardly, remember, it's just a silly blog.
PS I did love the 'some of my best friends are Jewish" response.

To Couch Captain,

Again, you are so out of it you might as well live at the bottom of a well.

The term, 'kite a check' is a VERY common term, in use by all people, and has NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING to do with the anti-semite term.

I can't imagine how you think I was looking for the K word, when my post had nothing whatever to do with Jewish people, and addressed another, totally unrelated subject.

There is nothing in the context of my sentance that even alluded to that.

And remember, I am of Jewish descent myself. At least a third of my relatives are Jewish. It's another religion in a family that has all religions represented, and all philosphies. For the record, I'm an atheist.

You are so typical of Moore supporters, who are the most bottom-fishing bunch of race-baiters I have ever met.

WTF is wrong with you?

Things are often and easily misconstrued here. North Coast, let up a little. Couch Captain admitted to an error. Couch Captain let up on pushing North Coast's buttons on a non-issue.

North Coast
You know how people still say stuff like "they gyped me" , or as I heard on CNN caught "red handed", and we all grew up hearing,"keep your cotton picking hands off me". All three terms take a whack at one group or another. I said I thought you were saying the other word, not kite. I also said I had not seen anything racist from you before. It seems to be to be the type of remark people get used to making, cause in their sub-group it's OK. So again I'm sorry I got it mixed up, my bad.

BTW Who's Westgard, Tom or Charlie?

Craig you of course have the keys to your blog but let's not act as though you've never been wrong about anything posted here. I made a mistake but I never hear anything like that coming from you or the others that took a whack at me.

Wearing out my welcome? It's your plug pull it anytime you like. But ask yourself what's the point of having an open blog if everybody just glad hands each other, you could save time and just IM each other.

I don't doubt that small store owners don't check on who's writing checks and giving them credit/debit cards. But then larger businesses who should know better also do the same thing. This is one reason why ID theft is so high.

I don't have any sympathy for the wastoids who committed the assault on that person, nor for the ones who are going around scaring pets, either. I keep saying it: the behavior is largely a result of poor parenting. When these young knuckleheads are caught, their parents should be penalized for the crimes as well.
