* Hypocritical Community Leaders

Hypocrites. People like Katy Hogan and Michael James, the owners of the Red Line Tap on North Glenwood. This business is on the Special Service Area #24 route. Both are members of DevCorp North. One a board member, one a SSA commissioner. Both are total community hypocrites.

See, DevCorp North and the Special Service Area spend a lot of time and taxpayer money telling people how to run and maintain their businesses. How to be a good business person. They produce survey after survey. Study upon study. Yet James and Hogan ignore their own findings. Hogan and James can't even replace a piece of broken glass.

When it comes to maintaining their own business, look how they showcase the neighborhood. With a broken window of course. It looks like a possible bullet hole or a rock has been thrown at it? Who knows? I's been broken so long, I'm sure Hogan and James even forgot how it happened.

This makes our commercial district look uninviting and unattractive.

Anyway, however it happened, what they need to do is fix the broken window on their own property before they go preaching to other businesses how to maintain their own. That's of course if they really care about the community. Or is all that talk just buffalo chips?

Is that HOT PINK paint or a distortion?

It's hot pink, just like the mysterious pink postcards.

Jocelyn covers another broken window along SSA #24 route.

Question, do either of their names pop up among the list of contributors to Aldersleaze Moore's campaign committee?

This is typical of the sloppiness and dirt prevalent at the Heartland, which is under common ownership.

Last summer, the Heartland's dumpsters were almost always spilling over- Club Med for Rats.

Given the alternatives, I can think of better examples to criticize. How about the poorly maintained monstrousity storefront at Damen and Rogers just north of the Pantry?

I know what you mean. I went to Charmers last March and almost had a friend break his neck outside on the ice because they were too lazy to shovel. I myself stepped in a large pile of dog crap just outside Gruppo Di Amchi I was pissed and had to sit though dinner with that nasty brown goo on my shoes. I'd like the business people to at least be as good as the homeowners in keeping the up keep, well up.

Capt. Dip-shit, I suggest you start a Jarvis Hell Hole blog.

Craig why would you call me a dip shit?

Craig's just ignorant, he can't help himself.

He's mad because you dared to criticize the yuppie...oops gentrifying businesses. Those are good whether they shovel and clean up the sidewalk or not. And the dollar stores and storefront lawyers and all the other businesses they actively hate that do keep the properties nice are still hellholes or trashy or hacks or whatever.

Thanks for the heads up I suspected as much but in the spirit of springtime, lets plant some flowers etc I thought I'd just try to be straight up.

I didn't realize the red line tap was on the Gordonites s*&t list.

Craig is there a list of businesses you like and ones you don't? This can get complicated real fast, I like Charmers and I like the red line tap does that make me part of the problem or solution.

Whats up with the west side of Jarvis square? You know the side pass the tracks from Dan Sullivans square. All the store front are empty. They just went so, how long is too long for them to stay empty before we raise hell abouot them? You know I like Dan and what's happened in that area is really nice I don't care which camp he's from I applaud his efforts.

Look the silly alderman thing is over, For me at least it's time to bury the hacket. No not in Craig's head but just lets stop all the crap and figure out how to improve the place.

In fact I know some people planning some Gorilla Beautification...they're gathering plants, paint and people to just take over some corner planters, add flowers where there is dirt, all on public land. We'll let ryne, toni and the rest fight over who's good and who's not.

Now, now.

I don't hate dollar stores. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't buy candles or dishtowels anywhere else. These 2 items, which are just examples, typically cost $1 to $1.50 at the dollar stores but $4-$6 at Target or other such places.

Dollar stores in and of themselves are innocent and great places to buy stuff like that, that cost 3X as much at Target.

It's just that most people would like more retail diversification in the neighborhood. We'd like to see higher end merchandise represented, too, and more categories of merchandise. More book store, including used bookstores, more good restaurants, more quality apparal, more good housewares.

And yeah, we like stuff to look good. The little dollar stores should pay more attention to their appearance.

"Gorilla" beautification. That's pretty good. I hope your knowledge of plants, paint and "dirt" is a bit better than your knowledge of other things, Couch Captain.

It's "guerilla" from the Spanish word for war: guerra. Maybe you should try getting off the couch once in a while and seeing a bit more of the world...

rebecca,
I've actually been lucky enough to travel a lot, I mean a whole lot. But none of that has helped my spelling or grammer, just be glad you're spared my penmenship. Also you might want to put a call into the people who sell the glue, the Gorilla glue, they could use a sharpy like yourself to set 'em straight.

Oh and don't worry about the plants and color stuff I'll be safe on the couch where I can't do any harm I might however donate a hosta or two maybe even a few day lillys, couple bags of compost some mulch and the wheelbarrel.

Rebecca before I log out I'd just ask. Is it possible to not like Don Gordon yet still not be a total waste of life? Just asking.

Rebeccas comment was beyond ingnorant. Of course tons of people have heard of Gorilla warfare but never seen it printed, what I learned in English class, where most of my classmates were failing society's standard tests was very clear from the teacher. No ones English is better than anothers, its dialects and person can express themselves many different ways using the same language. Most importantly, adults don't correct other adults English. Everybody knows what you are talking about and if they don't they can ask. Personally, I'm impressed with your insites, you are obviously very keen and busting through the superiority these bullies feel about themselves. You know there's some deeper stuff to that. invalidating people because they aren't educated enough. I could give some specific examples of the damage it does. I had a friend who couldn't read. He dropped out of school and did many good things with his time, including helping out with family, worked at K Mart for a while, but hated it, he went bad. I couldn't believe the stuff he did, I was talking to him one day and he straight up said we know we don't have a future, we know we're stupid. That's what he was thinking went he went bad...
