Just to prove a point, the City workers CAN work around these public space, commercial district trees. Here is a sidewalk project happening in the 1000-1100 block of West Lawrence, by the Aragon Brawlroom. Looky, it's even got real leaves sprouting from the branches. Amazing.
Since reading about the lack of attention Joe gives to his constituents yesterday, I've gotten a couple of emails informing me people who normally would've helped in today's Clean and Green, won't be. They said I'm a fool for getting involved with a slime-ball like Joe.
Okay, so I'm a fool and Joe's a slime-ball. But, I'm not giving up because 4000 uneducated voters picked Joe to take care of this world. I'm not giving up on trying to make Morse Avenue a more inviting street for the law-abiding residents, and myself.
It's not all Joe's fault. Kim Bares has done nothing but pad her purse with the street taxes she collects. DevCorp is nothing more than a city run mafia agency. They take your money and provide little more than manipulation and intimidation in return. They pass out contracts and make deals to the well-connected and screw the little guy.
All we're asking here is for seven trees and some flowers in the planters, 4 or 5 times a year. How fucking hard is that? (Okay, we're asking for a lot more, but this was to be a new start.)
If Joe had a ounce of sense in that pea brain of his, he'd ask for Ms. Bares to turn in her resignation, and ASAP. As for the Morse Avenue streetscape project starting this summer - I'm not holding my breathe and I wouldn't recommend any of you to hold your breathe either.
Let me lighten it up a bit. My friends at 'What the Helen' are going to love this. Is this guy Kent 'The Big Gay Dog' walker? He was one of the neighbors talking with reporters yesterday at the Granville Vote Dry. Or was he cruising for the 50% off all wine sales?

Craig, you can still clean up the street 363 days a year! Clean & Green is two.
Instead of riding around in a Streets & San vehicle - JM should be out there getting dirty with his constituents!
We pick up trash all the time - we'll choose the day no one else. One year I was the only person working on our street. Finally a new neighbor came down and helped. Joe came by in that truck and started politicking.
Let's hope the Morse Streetscape starts - it's supposed to be funded by whatever Joe and Kim transferred from the remains of the Howard Streetscape!
Today's little spring cleanup is another of Moore's little gestures, long on symbolism and short of what's needed to clean this neighborhood up. It is another "feel good" accompanied by the insinuation that if you are a good citizen and care about the environment you will get out and spend your leisure time picking up the trash spread allover the place by your inconsiderate low-life neigbors.
Excuse me, but I thought that's what SSA#24 and SSA #19 were being paid by a special stealth tax to do.
Since I have given a number of hours to picking up the trash that is scattered along Sheridan Road from Pratt down to Albion, I think I will bow out of today's little event and let others contribute to Joe Moore's photo op.
Could the managers of businesses like Chipotle, Starbucks, the Village Theatre, and other businesses at Sheridan & Columbia, and Sheridan & Albion, please get off their duffs and clean up the trash that is all over their parkways every single day? I have never seen the parkways at these business plazas looking good. I know it feels like wasted effort, since a new layer of litter will be out there the next day, but the owners of the 4+1 apt buildings at least make the effort, with constant cleaning, and planting of attractive flower beds.
We have enough to do keeping the crap picked up that is tossed onto our own parkways and into our courtyards by goons and slobs.
I'd like to see a REAL spring cleaning, by sweeping out the people who toss the garbage, since we didn't manage to quite sweep the Garbage King of the 49th, Mr. J. M. ,out of this ward.
This is nothing more than a photo opportunity for Joe. It always has been. You watch. He'll wander around the neighborhood, shaking hands and posing for pictures with the little kids. He might even pick up a shovel or rake, but he certainly won't put it to use.
I've participated in the past, but was so disgusted by Joe's behavior that I never did again.
I spend plenty of time cleaning up our neighborhood and always will, but I'm not interested in being Joe's unpaid work crew.
Take you shit elsewhere Toto. I'm off my ass and trying you dickhead.
I clean my block up nearly every day. If everyone took responsibility for the block they live on and the block they work on, this city would be beeeeautiful!
And yes, my area has an "official" Trash-Busters' Day, and I do participate in it. For us, it's not just a feel-good gesture to promote our alderman (who is out there doing the "dirty work" every day, not just when there are cameras around), it is a time to band together as a neighborhood to do something nice for each other and the environment.
Kent the Big Gay Dog Walker! BWAHAHAHA!! If it weren't for the fact that I saw him in Dominick's last week, sans the dogs and the skirt, opting for more normal dingy gray gym shorts, I'd think that his entire life revolves around wearing one of his skirts, and walking his (admittedly) two cute little pooches up and down Winthrop Ave, and if feeling adventurous, venturing either onto or south of Granville.
Actually, my wife and I are coming up on our 12th anniversary this month. Talk about judging a book by its cover!
Now as for my dogs... I was wondering about Killian (the larger papillon), he'd never shown any interest in anything... but when we got Hilde (the smaller one) then he realized that the equipment between his legs weren't just for saying "hi" to fire hydrants.
"Not there's anything wrong with that!" ;>
Oh, and U.A. - oops, you caught me in a fashion faux paws (pun intended, aber naturliche!) - but yeh, I usually just walk the dogs around the block... they're little, they don't need much exercise, and I never know when my disabled wife will need another shot to help with her migraines. When I venture out further, its when I know her head is stable, or when she's so out of it from her meds that she won't be coming to anytime soon.
(That's why we live here, so she can be treated at the Diamond Headache Clinic for her migraines. She had been a professor in St. Louis, but we went through all the top docs there, and they couldn't help, so 2 years ago she went on disability.)
Glad you like the dogs though, they are so cute they almost throw ya into a diabetic coma, nicht wahr?
And my wife LOVES the kilts and skirts. Instant access... "say no more, say no more, wink wink, nudge nudge."
Thanks for clearing the air on that. My bad and my apology for the sexual screw up.
Kent the Big Gay Dog Walker is a little joke for the What the Helen guys. He really digs cheap wine and the 50% off would've brought him up from Uptown.
Oh, and thanks for reading the 'Broken Heart'.
No problem... hey, a guy who walks around in skirts and kilts has to be ready for some razzing. My wife used to get sick of how often she was confused for one of those women who likes to hang with gay guys 'cause they're "safe," but now we take it as a compliment.
I'd be interested in the history of that "Kent the big gay dog walker," maybe I'll have to read some of your back posts. I've adopted a variant of it as my Blogger nome de plume, its pretty fun actually!
BTW, if anyone's interested, I shot some video of the excitement tonight at that same corner. Still don't know what was happening and all of us putting our heads together couldn't make sense of it, but basically a couple of the Wincrest folks wigged out at a person/people who live at the bldg next door to GFL.
BTW, I did post the video I shot near Granville & Winthop over on my blog this evening. Still looking forwards to the story of Kent!
