Hello Everyone,
Yesterday it took me thirty seconds to write an email to the alderman's office to insist that we get stop signs installed at the Glenwood/Pratt intersection. I'm sure you've noticed the danger that this intersection poses to vehicles and pedestrians, alike. Please take half a minute to voice your concern also. Here is the address: ward40@cityofchicago.org.
Please pass this along to anyone else you know in our area who would be concerned enough to write to Alderman O'Connor.
Also, since this intersection is on the border between two wards, maybe some of our 49th ward friends would be interested in contacting Joe Moore about the situation: ward49@cityofchicago.org.
Thanks for taking the time,
Erin Murtha

I like stop signs,
especially so close to the lake,
i like driving up glenwood north and making a right and pratt with another quick left at glenwood
this would be less of a problem if there were stop signs,
ofcourse i do walk this as well,
and it certainly is a major north south pedestrian corridor,
and it would be appreciated.
I really like the number of stop signs on MORSE, especially the one by the old peoples home
This post doesn't make any sense to me. The corner of Pratt and Glenwood is indeed a dangerous one, and long in need of a stop sign. Many have advocated for one over the years, and there have been vehicular-caused pedestrian deaths at that corner, including at least one child killed, some years back. But Glenwood and Pratt is not within, or on the border of, the 40th ward! It is firmly (last time I looked) within the 49th ward! I applaud this person's activism, but why did they think this intersection is the 40th ward? And why did Broken Heart publish this with no correction?
Part of the south side of Pratt is in the 40th.
The north side of Pratt is in the 49th.
Well, color me red - I went and looked at a ward map, and I guess I've never noticed that the re-districting took a chunk out of south RP for the 49th! I used to live south of Pratt at Glenwood and Loyola, and it was the 49th in those days! My apologies to the original author and to Craig.
If you want it done, contact O'Connor, he'll get it done. Moore's office will sit on it, as they do everything else!
How can you tell who is running for office on the lakefront? Check out the Pride Parade!
Dave Fagus is up for election. He was there with his four precinct captains. They marched behind a convertible. It had 2 Moore signs on it but no sign of the man. He is not running for office. He wasn't even marching behind the "Ban Foie Gras" float.
I contacted Moore years ago about putting better signage up at the Loyola train station. Cars and bikes zip through that light, routinely ignoring people crossing to and from the train. It's a major accident waiting to happen. Of course, nothing has been done.
I was in the Pride parade with Jan S and she isn't running, but she did 2nd Nancy Pelosi for nomination, the rest is history.
I'm a fan of Jan.
So, if you're sooo chummy with Aunt Jan, was she happy with her mug on the cover of Gay Chicago?
