Dear Constituent,
Since I apparently have no power or influence at all, although I seem to be in good company with my fellow aldermen, state representatives and state senators, you will have to do our jobs for us. Please write the Governor asap, or else you’ll be screwed if you use public transport. Fortunately I and my fellow politicos will be okay since we all have either taxpayer or campaign financed cars.

Joe's letter states:

He does not, however, say what he will do. Perhaps he'll show up at the white house gates again and discuss it with a security guard.

Re-elections times he cuts & pastes comments he made and then makes up solutions so the retards will vote for him again.
Don't forget - "because we've been pissing away your tax dollars for years, we're going to raise taxes again to pay for our mistakes. That way, you won' be able to complain about service cuts."
I have money for CTA passes taken out of my paycheck as part of an employee program at my job. I was informed by them that they will automatically take out extra money in case of fare increases. This means, of course, I'll have to adjust my budget to cover the extra money.
City Council should have stood on CTA's throats from the get-go about this. It is a shame that CTA doesn't get that most people riding public transportation don't have other options to get around, like a car for example. However, Springfield is not obligated to bail out an organization who has always dealt in mismagement, wasting money, and giving poor service.
This makes Chicago an even better canidate for the Olympics! How can a city that can't fund a reliable transit system transport visitors to our beautiful city on the lake if there is no mass transit system?
I really blame governor Blagobigmouth for this problem!
He prefers to fly back and forth(he doesn't pay) to Springfield because his family lives in Chicago. We the unasked and did not give permission consitutents for this expenditure from Blagobigmouth
pay for it.
And while I am venting about that governor person - you know how he rants and raves about Kid Care - well I have a friend with two sons that are hemophiliac - bleed at the touch of a fly - the blood treatment they don't need KID CARE will pay for , but the treatment that is most successful with his sons isn't covered by KID CARE!!!!
You would think the blagomouth would tell the truth. Some families are really protected by KID CARE and it helps but what the hey don't get caught without backup insurance plan or you will be broke before you leave the gate.
I think JoMo's "doing everything in his power" when it comes to the CTA is limited to showcasing his satellite service office while providing coffee and donuts at the Morse and Jarvis 'L' stops as we cope with extended wait times and more crowded trains. If I could only take a City of Chicago recycling services brochure and make a big enough paper airplane perhaps I can fly to work...

City Dollars for Transit
In the mid-1970s, State law established a mandatory funding formula for public transportation that directs a share of city sales tax revenue to the CTA. In addition, State law requires that City Hall contribute a minimum of $3 million per year to the CTA's operating budget. However, that amount is discretionary, and City Hall has chosen very deliberately NOT to increase that amount since the formula was instituted. Unlike other major cities around the nation, the City has not appropriated any more of its own resources to support the vital transit services that make Chicago a city on the move. And when you consider that the CTA spends over $900 million a year to provide bus and rail service to the people of our city, $3 million isn't even the proverbial "drop in the bucket."
Where does a person even start with this issue?
Well, with our "eco-conscious" little mayor, who somehow does not consider efficient, reliable transportation to be a significant factor in reducing fuel consumption and production of greenhouse gases.
Our governor and all the legislators representing rural and outer suburban constituents.
Our alderman, and his confreres in the City Council, who get cars provided them.
Our city officials should get their city-provided cars and gasoline taken from them, and be made to use public transit on the job whenever possible. There is no need for our local alderman to have a car provided him to do his job-there is nothing his job involves that can't either be done by traveling public transit, walking, or placing an order over the internet.
