* News Star Police Blotter, The 'Crime is Down' Report

*THEFT* - Someone smashed the window on a 2005 Lexus that was parked on the he 6800 block of North Ashland Avenue and removed a briefcase sometime before 10:50 a.m. Oct. 27.

*ROBBERY* - Two males, ages 12 and 15, were robbed on the 7500 block of North Ridge Avenue while walking home around 9:30 p.m. Oct. 27. The victims spotted three males and a female in their late teens and were going to try to avoid them by crossing the street. Before they could cross, the group began kicking and punching them. The youths rifled through the victims' pockets, removing a cell phone which they threw on the street, breaking it. The youths also took the victim's wallets and threw them to the ground after discovering there was no cash. The group fled south on Ridge Avenue on foot, without taking anything from the victims. Both boys sustained facial swelling.

*BURGLARY* - Someone broke the rear window and entered an apartment on the 2000 block of West Chase Avenue sometime between 10:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Oct. 26. The victim looked through the apartment after he got home and discovered $1,200 cash and an iPod, digital camera, watch and jewelry valued at $6,650 missing.
