color is a descriptor. its used to, you know, identify things. I don't understand the problem.
If a group of white skinheads attacked someone, would we not identify them as white skinheads?
hell, lets take it even further. i'm a man. i don't commit any violent crimes. therefore, i'm upset that they even identified the perps as male. stop sterotyping men! women commit violent crimes as well.

Dave and Irishpirate. The concern here is not about political correctness. The problem is that more often than not the RACE and SEX of the perpetrator are the only descriptors offered. Such meager (and generic) descriptions are essentially useless as a law enforcement tool.
So, what purpose do these descriptions actually serve other than to fuel racial tension, racial fear, and racial animosity?
well, giving race and sex helps narrow the field of suspects, does it not?
if you tell me neither, 100% of the people around me are suspects. if you tell me it was done by a black male, you now have narrowed it down to 32%. (made that up, i don't know the % of black males in chicago)
I dunno Michael. Perhaps crime reports shouldn't be posted at all. After all since the vast majority of offenders locally are minority males it is wrong to post any information related to that.
Or maybe forget the minority part and just focus on the "male" part. Pardon the pun. Dave had a point there. I am horrified, HORRIFIED that the offender was identified as male. Unless you have a photo, address, and complete description no identifying information should be given out about any "alleged" offenders. There I feel all better now.

By the way a disproportionate percentage of victims are also minorities. Then again, victims don't really count now do they?

Now if you want to report political corruption and crime in this city you are going to have a disproportionate percentage of fat, White Irish Catholic males involved. The initials RMD come to mind. I find that offensive. Therefore, no such reporting must occur. Where is my cheeseburger?
