* IVI-IPO Endorses Suzanne Elder

As first read here yesterday, the Steering Committee for the IVI-IPO ruled that those votes from members who weren't members long enough, should not be counted and the IVI-IPO Board recommend Suzanne Elders as their endorsement for the 7th District State Senate seat with a 7 yea, 5 ney and 1 abstained motion. The official press conference will be held on January 8th, 2008.

With that, Suzanne Elder has secured two endorsements to Heather Stearn's one. Elder has the IVI-IPO and the North side DFA's blessing - and Heather has garnered the blessing from David Fagus' - 49th ward Communist, oops, I mean Democratic Club.

Blognotes: Going up against the powerful democratic party hacks, and doing it on their own playing field, this is a huge score for the community activist, Suzanne Elder. In most 49th warders eyes, losing the Fagus endorsement was a favor to Elder. Now she's not tied to the corrupt Stroger family dynasty like Stearn's will be.

Blognote to Heather: If you're planning to let that slimeball Wayne Frazier run a sleaze campaign for you from behind the scenes in the 49th ward, you're going to be in deep doo-doo around here.

Anything the IVI endorses is a joke. Dont give me that crap that Elder is some type of democratic hero. The IVI leadership hasnt solved one problem nor helped in any community event unless it helps them personally. IVI leardership is tied into Joe Moore they are best buddies. Don't even think Joe Moore isnt out there.

DFA=IVI = same players wowy two endorsements all 7 people.

7 whole votes, these are the same whiners who cry foal when votes are that low and not in their favor.

Our lesson for today kids is remember, a vote for Elders is a vote for Joe Moore, yeah connecting the dots is fun.

Oh, Dorothy. You might need your eyes checked. Those aren't dots, those are bits of ash. This isn't "Every man" mythologizing. In fact, it doesn't have a thing to do with what Elders is; it's all about what Joe & Co. is not---capable of delivering endorsements to the women they now work for (and for the record, they were the ones whining, not Elders). A vote for Elders may be a proxy for some other, I don't know, but it sure ain't Joe.

dorothyparker007 has it so wrong it's twisted. IVI-IPO supported Elder because she is independent, and in spite of Moore, not because of him.

The facts: Despite extremely intense lobbying by the Steans campaign, the margin of IVI-IPO support for Suzanne Elder actually widened at the State Board level. The vote to endorse Elder carried 11-5, with 5 abstentions. Some board members indicated they might change their votes in a later round, but no second motion or vote was needed.

If Elder is Moore's stalking-horse, he has a real funny way of helping his proteges. Moore, according to witnesses, spoke out for Steans at DFA (and got heckled), pushed hard to make sure Steans got the 49th Ward Dems nod, and spoke out for Steans at the Rogers Park IVI-IPO session. Most of that to no avail.

If IVI-IPO is Moore's handmaiden, they are an insolent and rebellious servant. The Steans lobbying effort included bunches of phone calls from heavyweights -- one board member reported getting 4 phone calls from Moore alone -- and some board members who often are absent from meetings put in rare appearances. Moore's guy Wayne Frazier gave a long speech in favor of Steans. 46th Ward commiteeman Tom Sharpe's wife also appeared and under guise of a "point of order" began to give a speech against the Elder endorsement. She was finally ruled out of order.

The only possible conclusion from this is that Elder is in fact an independent candidate and that IVI-IPO, tho they've supported Moore in the past, and he's placed some of his people on their board, are in fact independent of him as well.
