* Rambo in Edgewater

This didn't happen in the 24th, but I couldn't pass this one up. Yesterday at 3:23PM, a man, (we'll call him Mr. D) called police a bunch of times to report a major crime in progress.

It seems kids were throwing ice and snow at each other on the corner of Thorndale and Broadway. Mr. D said the police were on the scene - and not doing anything about this heinous crime.

In one of his calls, Mr. D asked for a supervisor, which arrived on scene rather quickly. By then, the short fused Mr. D didn't want to talk to the police. By then he wanted to take matters in his own hands. He was going to get his shotgun and settle the matter himself.

Blognotes: For those who feel cheated by not getting their Rogers Park 'crime is down' news, here you go.

* Male stabbed at 5:40 PM Monday, in the 1300 block of West Estes.

* On Friday, a 1997 Honda Civic was stolen from 2094 West Estes. It was found Sunday near Pulaski & Roscoe. It was stripped and smashed to bits. The only thing they didn't do was set it ablaze. Nothing further.

People like "Mr D" are the biggest part of the problem this country has.

I hope the police met with this guy and relieved him of his "piece".

Americans are worse than people in any other 1st World country about blowing their fuses over trivialities, like kids throwing snowballs or ice pieces at each other. People go ballistic over things a normal person wouldn't even notice.

And we seem to have some sort of contest going in this country over who can be the biggest complainer about the most penne ante "problems".

How about this one - someone tried to break into my apartment on Saturday, while I was in it. Saturday, 3:30 p.m., all of my neighbors were home. I live at Jarvis and Greenview.

Maybe this isn't the place to post this, but I had to vent.

My God, someone tried to come in on a weekend day, while you were at home?

Anyone who would try to break in while you are home is extremely dangerous.

What did you do?

Yikes! Jarvis and Greenview-- the most gentrified corner in our entire neighborhood, no less. Thank god you're okay.

Doesn't anyone remember Chicago chop shops from the Seventies? Bogus insurance claims? Cars in canals?

I enjoy a good digital photo of would be thieves, who are unsuccessful. I am sure that the 24th District appreciates it, as well.

A good outdoor security camera system (3 cameras) with DVR from Sam's on Main Street in Evanston costs about a less than $1.5Gs during the summer. It may be worth the investment for those with concerns.
