Today at 8:30 AM, a anonymous neighbor in the 6900 block of North Greenview called 911 because her/his neighbor had the television on - and it was too loud for her/his liking. Beat car 2431 covered the 911 call - and an other officer was called to back up car 2431 because she was riding solo. Nothing further.

For Chrissakes.
No wonder the police are sometimes unresponsive.
How many nonsense calls like this do they get?
A lot. You'd love this Laura, I hear many scanner relay calls about parents who can't control their kids behavior and call the police to come play parent.
This surprises you why? Calls like this are common. One of my favorites is when the childrens won't go to school. Little seven year old refuses to get up and go to school. The parents want the Police to do the parents job. Or how about when the brothers can't decide what football game to watch on New Years Day. People call the Police for some of the most ridiculous reasons you can imagine. And unlike the Fire Department who can and do refuse to calls they think they shouldn't have to respond to, the Police must answer each and every one of them. I would imagine that it's because of calls like this that Police are unavailable to address more pressing issues. One of the reasons your beat car is unavailable to rid your corner of the local drug dealer or group of gangsters as quickly as they would like too.
hey big daddy:
what calls can the fire dept refuse? it seems like any 911 call must be answered because of liability. city wont take of a chance of a possible lawsuit.
Hilarious True Story:
My friend's roommate stupidly called the CFD even after we told her not to, because her cat got out and crawled up between two buildings and got stuck. The fire department told her (when they were done laughing) to "move to Mayberry" and "try animal control". So she called animal control. They came out 3 hours later, looked up in the gangway between the buildings and gave her a body bag because the cat "would come down eventually".
