After some some 6 arrests by the Evanston Police Department, burglaries continue on both sides of Howard. While Evanston continues to see more problems, burglars are hitting residences on both sides of Howard. Neighbors should be alert, keeping an eye both on their homes and their fellow neighbors.

On January 1, between 3pm and 5 pm, a third floor apartment at 125 Clyde, Evanston (Wolcott Ave.) was burglarized. The owner was out of town at the time, but did have someone coming in to key an eye on pets. A security gate, that was apparently malfunctioning, had been left open, allowing the burglar to gain access to the property. He(she) pried open a metal door gaining access to the building. Condo owners believe the unit was targeted and that the theft was not random.

In Chicago there have been 11 burglaries, 7 thefts from residential buildings, and 3 car thefts, between Dec. 1 and 26, 2007. Most of these have been in Network 2424 North (area north of Touhy). See the attached files (in Excel and PDF) for further details.

Neighbors in the 7500 block of Winchester recently spotted two individuals attempting to break in through a neighbors gate. A few days later, an individual was confronted on the same block when attempting to throw a brick through a car window. Please stay alert!!! And call 911 regarding any suspicious behavior.
