* Why Was This Guy Babysitting, When He Should've Been in Jail?

Yesterday I asked what this guy was thinking? I don't blame any of you for not responding. That was a question only Jacky could answer. And he did. He told prosecutors he "lost it"!

Well, today I'd like to know why this lunatic was even out on the streets. See Jacky, or 'Jock' as he's known to his friends in the hood, should still be locked up for residential burglary he committed in March of 2005.

* He was sentenced to four years in the slammer in March of 2006. He was released a mere seven months later, in September of 2006.

So, what happened? How'd this choir boy go from breaking into homes, to killing a baby in two years?

Where was all the after prison care our tree hugging liberals claim to fund with our money? Where was his parole officer? Who was keeping tabs on Jacky, while Jacky was "losing it"?

I can't see what the "conservatives" have done to fix the broken justice system and irrational sentancing laws in all our 50 states.

At least the Dems (Clinton)introduced tighter sentancing, classified more crimes as federal crimes (so that witnesses could get into the Federal Witness Protection program), and increased the length of minimum sentances.

The "conservatives" on the other hand, want to make guns available to anyone who feels like buying them. Why, for example, would the pro-gun conservatives lobby against a 3-day waiting period, so that a thorough nation-wide record check can be done on a prospective gun buyer? Do the "conservatives" WANT every ex-con to be able to get any kind of weapon he wants?

Rational gun legislation would make any kind of weapon available to the police, whatever they wanted to use, while restricting the rest of the population to only weapons that are needed for self-defense, and would make sure that no criminal could buy from a dealer at all, which would mean a month waiting period so that a person's record could be thoroughly checked in every jurisdiction. It would also mean shut down the gun shows, where all current laws binding on dealers go totally buy the board and you can buy anything you want from a private seller. It would mean a verified, documented "chain of custody" for every weapon.

I'm hearing from the police blogs that our cops are hopelessly outgunned by criminals with better weaponry, so the police need to be given the best firepower available.

Our sentances for vile crimes,in all 50, are laughably light, also. Worse, they are very uneven. For a really serious crime, like the murder on Devon yesterday, you might get the death penalty, you might get life in prison, or you might get five years. It is a lottery.

I feel that the perps of crimes like yesterday's, deserve the death penalty, mainly because "life in prison" usually turns out to be 20 years, and a dangerous criminal is freed at age 40 or 50 to resume a life of spreading terror. Two many killers get back out onto the streets.

But whatever punishment we apply, it needs to be applied evenly , across the board, and for certain.

Oh,yes, there should be no question of the death penalty, or 200 years, for this child-killer creep.

What this child went through in the last 5 minutes of his life is too ghastly to think about.

This tragedy is the result of isolation and lack of intternal control
Ever visit housing project and knock on the door nexxt door asking have you seen John Smith lately?
Most of the time they are afraid to open the door and when they do open the door they don't know a thing.
This is the aftermath of poverty, poor parenting of the abuser and being so isolated you are afraid to ask for help!

Craig: You could help by setting up a dirt-biking-in-Wisconsin outreach to help ex-offenders find true purpose in their lives. This could be a great project in which to involve that "nephew" you regularly weekend with in Wisconsin.

Why not also set up a similar program at your Gay Chicago magazine? Involve ex cons in production work, ad sales, photo cropping, et cetera. Based on all the prison rape jokes Ive heard in my lifetime, your magazine and parolees might be a good "fit."

The reason we are allowed to have guns is to protect us against the fucking unjust government. Douche bag. Obviously this asshole needed more hugs. Wake the fuck up. Hug an inmate today.
