At least one guy got it pretty bad based on the amount of blood he trailed. The blood trail begins near the SE corner of Pratt and Sheridan and heads west one block to Lakewood where it proceeds south to Columbia and then to Glenwood where it heads south-bound. The trail suggests the guy was stumbling and ended at an apartment building on the 6600 block of Glenwood. A neighbor who saw the blood on the sidewalk called the police on Friday and the cops told her they had a guy in custody. We do not know if the bloody guy was the victim or the perp. We are trying to get info from Caps Beat 2432.
I am glad to have this mystery at least partially solved. We have noticed it on our dog walks this weekend. Highly disturbing! It is good to know someone is in custody.
The bloodied person was not a resident of the apartment on Glenwood. He tried to shelter in both the enclosed gangway and the side entrance, but could not gain entry. The blood was pooled there early in the morning, and it looked like he retraced his steps back north.
The bloodied person did not live at the apartment on Glenwood. He tried to get in to their enclosed gangway, and then came around to the side apartment entries, but did not gain access. We also know that this happened early in the morning.

Correction: the blood trail begins near the SW (not SE) corner of Pratt and Sheridan.
