* Artist on the Wall this Weekend

Today is the first of two days artists and those who inspire to be gather along the wall at Pratt Avenue and the lakefront to put their creative side on display. Music and food are also available. From what I saw when I was down there this afternoon, there are still plenty of squares to paint. I'm told they only cost $30 bucks. Grab a brush and head on down. If you're short of ideas, try painting Mr. Brokenheart.

Squares sell out fast and are all gone. Also, it's Artists of the Wall. What a beautiful day for it!

This is why I don't do good news stories. People always criticize my errors.

Craig, you did just fine. Now, we know for next year that the squares sell out fast. Something that we would not know unless you allowed SSB to post the information on your Blog.

Did we miss the RP Garden walk? Or is it on its way next week?

Craig- they criticize you for the regular stuff, too. Don't stop the good news from coming.
I went both days and the live music was good this year. I don't have much else that's positive to say about it.
I did not paint a square, in part because it was like pulling teeth to get information about how to register prior to to festival. The basic information was not even posted on rogerspark.com until the Monday prior. Rogers Park Community Council, who along with Loyola Park Field House organize the event were both less than helpful. Loyola Park was "out of registration forms" twice when I called there and RPCC's web site is under construction so no registration available there either. I also had to call RPCC 3 times to get someone to call me back once.
The last time I spoke to a woman at the LPFH, I told her the lack of organization and information was very disappointing. Her response was something along the lines of it being the Chicago Park District and that it is an all volunteer venture. Okay, so that means mediocrity is acceptable?
With better organization this festive could really be something! As it stands now, there was only one food vendor (guess who...Heartland Cafe)and the hot dog cart that's been down there this year. No beer tents or artists vending their wares, which would add a lot to the celebration.
I'm going to volunteer for next year in hopes that it will be more of what it can be.
