It's the battle of the meetings tonight - and I don't know which one to attend. Do I go to the ever contentious battle to save our Rogers Park beaches from the bulldozer? Or do I attend a meeting on a Stealth Drug Rehabilitation House?
One has opened it's laundry room up to crack whores - and the other meeting is a battle of political heavy-weights. A battle with-in a battle sort-of-speak. It's Don "the Lakefront Jogger" Gordon vs. Anne "I've Never Jogged a Day in My Life" Sullivan. This is a tough one to call.

Hard call, but I believe the situation at Lunt and Sheridan is more urgent, while the Lakefront meeting, while ultimately more important, is just one thing in an ongoing battle that we really need to double down on.
We need to nip situations like Lunt in the bud before we get so many of them that this neighborhood's lakefront, along with the rest of the nabe, becomes a place so ruined that no one cares enough aboutit to fight over it.
We just got the south end of RP cleaned up (halfway)7 or 8 years ago. If we lose the ground we've gained, we won't be able to do a thing with the north end.
We need to build on the progress we've made so far. Let's not the south end roll back to 1997, when it was really the badlands.
I agree.
FYI,
Here come these persistent little assholes again. When are they going to get it?
Our area has been the way it has been for what??? Over 170 years?
They’re akin to unwanted parasites.
.
We tell these arrogant jerks to leave us all alone year after year.
Almost none of these people even live in our ward
They model themselves after Burnham. What a joke.
Burnham himself moved his family out of Chicago into a mansion in Evanston that had a PRIVATE BEACH!!! Why? Because he knew that Evanston and South Evanston (Rogers Park north of Touhy) retained riparian rights. Also, he didn't want his kids to grow up on the same streets and public ways that he himself was professing!!!!!!! I’m not trying to “Diss.” Burnham. He did great things and was a great man.
I just wish these arrogant little ass-wipes would stop pretending like they know what’s best for everyone.
I’ve had the displeasure of meeting with these “self-righteous” jerks on several occasions. And, be on your guard.
They’ve figured out a way to “LULL” others into their lair.
They put it to you in a manor that tries to portray their plan as “It’s going to happen, whether you like it or not. So, why don’t you join us? At least then, you can have a say in the matter.”
F….ing con artists.
There are a lot better ways to spend $500,000,000 - $1,000,000,000 (Yes $500,000,000 – 1,000,000,000) in this city
Fix what exists... better schools, more police & fire personal, broken infrastructure...
The list of things that would be better served with this money is 4 MILES LONG!
Unfortunately, I cannot attend either meeting. If I could, though, I'd attend the Lunt meeting both to show support for the building's original tenents and to represent the greater community - let Gassman know that what he's trying to pull affects all of us and none of us are willing to just bend over and take it.
The problem is, of course, that if enough of us agree on this blog that Lunt is the more important of the two, Moore and his developer croonies may decide that tonight's lakefront meeting is the most oppertune time to pull one of their bonehead moves.
I would like to suggest a way we could all effectively be in both places at the same time.
Perhaps Park Bench could video tape one meeting and post that tomorrow AND that you, Craig, attend the other meeting and report on the goings on here on your blog. If that happens then Alderman Moore and Gassman will both know that the whole neighborhood is in effect at both meetings and therefore will know what happened.
Is that possible? Would you and The Park Bench be willing to step in for us like that?
Whatever you decision - Thanks for your wonderful coverage on both issues already.
- PEACE -
Craig:
Considering that the FOTP is pure fantasy, this is what wealthy white people do when they have nothing else constructive to do with their lives, and will never see light I say go crack ho, and maybe you can meet a nice girl to settle down with
