With-in the last 10 minutes the CTA Red line has completely shut down. 17:08 is what's being given as official shutdown time. The third rail is off. My guess from scanner reports is ground zero is Argyle.
5:23 PM: Channel 7 News is reporting a pedestrian has been hit.
6:04 PM: Channel 5 News reports the pedestrian is dead.
Friehiwet Tahir, 35, of the 5000 block of North Ridgeway Avenue in the Albany Park neighborhood, died of multiple injuries after falling off the Argyle Street station platform, authorities said. An autopsy ruled her death accidental, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office spokesman.

Ground Zero was indeed Argyle.
I was going to board at Argyle as usual on my way home, but went to the bank, and then boarded at Lawrence instead. Line was shut down, CA told me a "medical emergency" at Argyle, and I saw a northbound train at Argyle.
Knew what had happened when the line was STILL shut down an hour later, when I stopped at Granville to shop. If someone is hit by the train (usually someone who jumped), the line is usually down for two hours, and the police decide when it will be back in service.
A friend of mine from church was late to tonight's women's fellowship because of it. She was caught on the train in the tunnel between Clark and Division and North and Clybourne. She told us that someone had jumped. Passengers on the train were let off to catch Clark Street buses. All the buses were packed, of course, so it took her a long time to get back up to Rogers Park.
