2 police cars still at the scene. Yellow crime scene tape and a warning from the officers not to step in the blood. Around the corner at the basketball court in Gale Park, 3 young men enjoying a saturday morning dice game for a large sum of cash. One block away on Paulina one of the many neighborhood drug dealers is open for business. Broken liquor bottles litter the sidewalks of the area and Gale Park. Nice for the grand opening of the community center.

A few 911 anon calls of "selling" (selling drugs???) calls in the 7600 block of Paulina last night.

Come on Craig! What do you think they're selling! This business goes on 24/7 in the 7600 block of N. Paulina. WHY! If the community sees it, why don't the cops and WHY don't they shut it down???

mcl...I've said this time and again, and I am quoting from the CAPS meetings...."it violates their civil rights to stop them for suspicion of selling drugs..and don't even accuse them of selling drugs, or they sue the police and the police officers lose their homes." Seriously, those reasons have been given at CAPS meetings when questioned about why the police aren't more aggressive addressing the crime issues on the streets NOH.

You don't even have to stop them, or even get out of the car (which is probably the preferred method for cops). Just the mere presence of a police car is enough to distrupt drug sales. It either forces them to move (and the cops can just follow them to their new location and keep distrupting sale) or they will stop selling there altogether because of the "heat" put on by the cops. Simple.

Nice thought man on the street, but it just doesn't happen NOH. I have witnessed police drive by the drug dealers on Paulina and keep on driving. You would think one would be suspicious if the same person is in the same spot on the street every single day, all day long and into the night. But the police don't stop, they continue driving by. You can watch this yourself...come to the 7600 block of N Paulina any morning around 6:30 or 6:45...you'll see 2 or 3 young men standing on the sidewalk waiting for the next customer to drive up. If the police drive by, the young men don't leave, the police don't stop amd they hardly ever drive by more than one time.
