*Someone Hit by Shots Fired Somewhere in Rogers Park
The Rogers Park 'Crime Wave 2008' continues. A person was hit by the bullet from a gun that was fired somewhere in Rogers Park last night around midnight. Nothing further.
Does this mean down the street or does this include the entire neighborhodd?
Maybe the alderman could hook up with these thugs and have them help him clean the Jarvis El Stop. Scrap, Plaster , Clean and then paint a nice mural. This might keep them busy, in faxt so busy learning a marketable skill, that they stop robbing residents! jUST A THOUGHT!
"If groups of people are allowed to stand around drinking alcohol, smoking marijuana and going to the bathroom in broad daylight on public walkways with no fear of being arrested, " she said, "we are sending a clear message to criminals that Uptown will not put up with it ... the business community isn't going to put up with it anymore."
Isn't it interesting that Uptown residents are not going to tolerate that behavior any longer, but it has become accepted behavior NOH. Maybe if we had a responsible, accountable business community on Howard Street, we might get some positive results also. We have empty storefronts, or businesses like Sandy's Foods where police confiscated a gun during a recent raid. And we have Pete's Grill at the el stop, where they allow the drug dealers to hang out when the police drive by. Or the coin laundry where local gang bangers and drug dealers can be found hanging out also.
Bosworth said, "Maybe if we had a responsible, accountable business community on Howard Street, we might get some positive results also." The fact is, as long as we have the concentration of poverty and low-income rental units NoH, you will NEVER have legit, responsible businesses on Howard Street, particularly East of the El. It's not rocket science, it's economics 101.
Well, the alderman's office seems to love low income and section 8 housing - I agree with mcl - as long as they continue to promote it - we will continue to have problems!! Break up the groups of thugs in groups together - it's obvious they are up to nothing good.
Can't break up the groups of thugs....it violates their civil rights. Can't complain about them either....that makes you a racist that dislikes poor people and wants them all moved out of the neighborhood. Your choice is to accept it for what it is...keep your mouth shut and move to another neighborhood when you get the opportunity.
Bosworth has a poor attitude. Sure, you can't take away someone's civil rights, but it's not wrong to expect the crime and senseless violence to be controlled better. These a-hole thuglets need to be put in jail. I don't care if they are white, black, or purple; the stuff that is going on around Rogers Park is ridiculous.
And no, we don't have to keep our mouths shut and deal with it or move elsewhere.
ms21, I don't have a poor attitude. I am only repeating what has been said at CAPS meetings numerous times. Every time someone at a CAPS meeting brings up the senseless violence and behavior and the thugs loitering on the street corners, they are told 'thank the ACLU.' Because of them the police can't do anything. Can't violate their civil rights.
I don't tolerate the behavior in my neighborhood, and I continue to call 911 numerous times a day for every infraction I witness. I also call the aldermans office and report these issues. I don't intend on moving any time soon, but I have been told at CAPS meetings the area I live in, NOH has been bad for years and the police don't see it improving any time soon. So you read into that whatever you will.

Shooting in Uptown too. The only difference, the neighbors are upset.
Rogers Park neighbors put up with crime, Uptown residents don't.
Craig I swear the Alderman reports CRIME IS DOwn!
