3:28 PM: This afternoon a policeman took charge and dispersed 11 gang members in the 1400 block of West Morse Avenue. This rather large action of moving the nearly one dozen gang members from one place to another took place at 1415 West Morse, in CAPS beat 2431. No word if the unidentified gang moved east or west. A drug dispersal was not asked for at this time. Gang dispersal event number #11612 was given to the officer dispersing 11.

Good for him! Yes, they will probably only move to another block, but hopefully another policeman will roust them from there, and then another from the next place, and then another... Don't limit this to gangbangers, though. The drunks and dice shooters could use some "exercise" too...
HEY CRAIG I GUESS SOME GANG BANGERS ARE AT WAR OVER HERE ON HOWARD AND RIDGE SOMEONE GOT SHOT AND KILLED ON BIRCHWOOD AND RIDGE AND NOT LONG AGO THERE WERE GUNSHOTS IN AN ALLEY ON RIDGE CLOSE TO BIRCHWOOD GANG BANGERS SHOOTING AT EACH OTHER. Man on the street, you hit the nail on the head!!!!!
Disrupting the regular and reliable areas for illicit drug commerce makes the "consumer goods" (also known as the ready fix) hard to find. Essentially, it is pushing them out of their place of business. This strategy is what we've needed, and what many gang infested Chicago neighborhoods have needed, from the the first time some good neighbor ever asked why gang bangers monopolize specific street intersections at specific times of the day.
An officer forcing drug dealers to "move along" or even just by walking over and standing in their midst literally prevents the transaction that the drug using customers expect to make.
Also, there's nothing, no law, not a thing that prevents policemen from FOLLOWING gangbangers, and not even speaking a word, from corner to corner to corner to corner. It's the customers who are more afraid of seeing a uniformed officer on their normal drug buying corner than the bangers. This really works.
Now, we still don't have regular police foot patrol officers assigned to hot spots along Morse, Howard, and Clark, Ridge, and other areas. However, if our District Commander Caluris could just give some encouragement and guidance to more of his officers to GET OUT of their patrol cars and WALK AROUND for an hour we'd see a major decrease in gang related drug dealing and street crime.
A ton of thanks goes to that very professional officer who took some INITIATIVE today and basically said enough is enough!!!
THANK YOU OFFICER!!!! Let's hope if they are shooting - they just kill off each other. It's time to make them move along and I agree with "man on street" - it's also time to move along the drunks - I am so tired of them harassing me when I'm walking my dogs and trying to pet them. One of these days I'm going to let a dog take a bite!
THANK YOU OFFICER!!!! Let's hope if they are they just kill off each other....RAZLDAZLR your a moron. Sounds like Population control to me ...hmmm sounds like another WELL KNOWN moron to me. Instead of finding ways to help these kids, it's well just let them kill each other off. SO SMART! Gotta know your EINSTEIN scores. :))
