Southsider Mugs Man of Coin Purse in Rogers Park
Police arrested a man after he allegedly robbed a 55-year-old man in a parking lot on the 7000 block of North Glenwood around 1:10 a.m. Sept. 16. The victim told police that the man approached him from behind with his hand under his shirt, pointing an unknown object at him. The man ordered the victim to hand over his wallet, according to the police report. When the victim told the man that he had very little money in his coin purse, the man threatened to bust him with the gun, the victim said. The police report stated that the man ordered the victim to "hurry up and leave" or he'd come get him. The man fled southbound on Glenwood. The victim went home and called police. Police apprehended the man on the 1400 block of W. Morse. The victim reportedly identified the man as the person who robbed him. Police recovered some of the victim's belongings, including a lighter and $15.01, the police report said. Charged with aggravated robbery is Marcus Richardson, 37, on the 6200 block of South Paulina. Richardson appeared in court on Sept. 23. Source.

Do we have a picture of this "lowlife" - yes, this is one of my definitions of scumbags
don't they have their own open air drug markets near 6200 S Paulina?
what's the big attraction with east Rogers Park?
we have more old men with $15 in coins in their pockets?
Good job by the police!
Maybe they heard "crime is down" in Rogers Park and they think they can get away with it easier here. I too want to applaud the Police on their quick and decisive follow-up. Maybe word will spread to the Southside that our Police Force doesn't just sit on their hands.
- PEACE -
I don't recall a parking lot on 7000 N. Glenwood. And
"What's with the big attraction with east Rogers Park" is right. Are we a crime of opportunity?
Last night around midnight, I watched from my window as two men were conducting (or trying to) hashish business on my street next to his SUV illegally parked next to a hydrant. One walked away and the other approached the sidewalk and decides try to open my frontgate! Good thing it was locked and he drove off in his SUV.
Hashish!
I've been trying to score some good hash for quite some time!
Now I know where to go (besides all the way to Amsterdam or Morocco)!
I was thinking the same thing billyjoe. You don't come across a lot of hash in Chicago.
You'd think. Well, that what was said.
WOW WORD IS GETTING AROUND THAT CRIME IS BEEN ALLOWED IN THE 49TH WARD. I DIDNT THINK THE WORD WOULD GET AROUND ALL THE WAY TO THE SOUTHSIDE
The only parking lot around is behind Trilogy. I've seen some pretty scurvy people hanging out there in the year and a half I've lived in RP.
Whether or not the perp if from the neighborhood or, like this goof, not, we must make the 49th Ward and Rogers Park safer for ourselves and our children.
Do not e-mail the Alderman--inundate his office with snail mail. Piles of your letters stating your dissatisfaction at the rising rate of crime can work wonders! Doesn't anyone remember "Miracle on 34th Street"? Same principle, folks. Try it. Use it. Just do it.
Support the police, please. They need all the support, and more, that we can give. It's up to us, because they're getting squat fron da Mare and all the Alder-Jokers of Chicago.
Good thing they caught Marcus Richardson, and I hope he gets more than just a slap on the hand.
