4:24 PM: Battery in progress. Multiple calls coming in. Rogers and Damen and 1927 West Chase. Group fight. Five males, unknown ages, beating up a teenager. One of the 911 callers is the victims mother.

I agree, gangs are cowards. They cannot fight 1 on 1 , I have been jumped many times by 3-4 guys. i dont understand why the police do not pull over these gang bangers on the street to see if they got drugs or weapons,
I think you need to take into account that not all members of a mob want to participate in such beatings. They are drawn in by peer pressure and group think--by fear that their friends wont think they're "men."

billyjoe i use to fight a lot only once have i fought one on one and that was the only one i lost and that was 5th or 6th grade. especially throughout high school always stood my ground and it always happens time and time again you start whooping one of them real bad and his "friends" will run off and leave him hanging. but those that dont theyll get it too.. theres an art in fighting someone taught me..and when gang bangers swing they just swing like crazy all you have to do is not panicand aim at any key points in the body and theyll be on the ground in no time they can even die but hey self defense...but then again gangs are cowards and they will pull of a gun and shoot

It's gotten pretty bad lately. I feel a lot more unsafe walking the streets around here than I did two or three years ago. When are these CAP meetings again?
I agree with rogers park guy. Back in the day, we didn't necessarily need a "posse" to take care of business with one person. When the fight was over, it was over. None of this going back to get weapons to soothe one's pride.
OMG What the hell has happened to RP. I lived there many years ago and it use to be a great place. Now it sounds like the old "south side" has moved north.
I walk regularly down Rogers and Damen. I drive down, as well. I don't see much other than a few kids playing hoops. There is a squad car parked in the Potawattomi Park lot. A small group sometimes gathers on the north side of the park by Jordan Community. 1927 W. Chase? That must be a block south of Rogers, because the 2000 block terminates into apartments at Damen. My recall is that there is a regular drinking party on the west side of the damen south of Rogers.
