Paid to Do Nothing in Rogers Park

A Neighborhood Investigation.

A shovel. A broom. A hoe. These tools are all leaning against the yellow tool cart in the 1200 block of West Lunt. But where are the city workers?

To be continued....

Wow, I had a hell of a time getting into work at Loyola today. Generally, I head down Devon but this morning I took Sheridan. What a mess..for blocks! I was 20 minutes late and was the only one opening up the office. I do get Joe's e-mail balsts but one advising to avoid Sheridan would have been very appreciated. When I arrived others who take Sheridan were commenting on the mess/traffic backup too.

off topic here....found this today on Crain's. I wonder if this will turn into a half way house like his other property in Rogers Park?

Nightclub owner and North Side real estate investor David Gassman paid $6.85 million for a 90-unit apartment building at 6954 N. Sheridan Road in Rogers Park. Despite the credit crunch, sales of North Side apartments priced between $1 million and $10 million remain strong, says Gregory LaBerge, a sales manager in the Chicago office of Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Brokerage Co., which brokered the deal. Mr. Gassman, who owns Spin Nightclub, 800 W. Belmont Ave. in Lakeview, financed the deal with a $5.2-million loan from Wyomissing, Pa.-based Sovereign Bank, according to property records. The seller was real estate investor Steven Pekic of Chicago.

Why are you surprised by this?

It only took 3 & a half months to fix a sewer at Pratt & Clark!
