False 10-1 Called Over the Scanner (Update)

8:35 AM: Dispatch issues a 10-1 over the scanner. 6134 North Kenmore. "Police shooting." Officers rush to the scene from all directions. When arriving to the 10-1 call, first responding police find out it's nothing more than a car break-in. There was no shooting involved. First responding officer wants clarification to how the first call came into dispatch. Dispatch clearly repeats "police shooting" - not car break-in.

Blognotes: Do you believe as I do this person (I've got his name) called 911 with a higher priority crime to get a faster response time?

Update - 8:50 AM: Officer on scene is clearly concerned about how the call came in to the 911 center. Dispatch says the supervisor has a copy of the incoming call if the officer wants to hear it.

I heard it on the scanner too. I saw a police officer who has been filling in as a crossing guard at Ridge and Touhy for the past couple of days jump into his car and speed off as another squad car followed. I guess this is where they were heading to even though they are in the 24th district.
