Fire Shuts Down Touhy

Exclusive Breaking News

For all you wannabe newspaper publishers and reporters out there. Rule #1. If you want to cover news, you gotta be on the scene. If you smell smoke, don't run the other way. This afternoon around 3 o'clock, there was a fire at 1806-08 West Touhy. Two -2 story homes were damaged. A dozen Fire Department personal responded and quickly put out the blaze. Touhy and Rogers are blocked off from Clark to Ridge. There appears to be no injuries.

4:38 PM: The Red Cross has arrived on scene. At least four people are displaced because of the fire. There's still no reporters covering this local news from the Ginderske News Agency (GNA).

4:48 PM: Bomb and Arson is being contacted. Officer on scene believes this fire may have been deliberately set. Fire trucks are leaving and the streets are opening up. Looks like the GNA blew it on this news story.

this is down the street from me, and i know the family at 1806. this family has 7(or8?) kids. they do not have a ton of money. this is quite a hardship on them, i am sure.
this same building had a major fire before this family moved in.

"not much money and 7 or 8" kids- I think I can guess what happened here. Another overcrowded, overburdened, out-of-control household. Could it be that one of the tykes was playing with a cigarette lighter or some such, and started this by accident/

Thank God the kids and parents both are OK, that is what matters.

Oh, yeah, Craig.

These people will be needing financial help. Is there some kind of neighborhood fund we can donate to to help out families in situations like this?

If so, I'd like to donate. Rather than give a fortune to one family, it would be nice to help out somewhat generally, any neighborhood family in a fix like this should they need it.

nc, you can guess, as you always do, what happened. you would be quite wrong. i don't know how it started, but your nasty description is uncalled for, unkind, and wrong.
