New Neighborhood Blogs
Looks like I'm mentoring someone at Sullivan High School after all. Timmy, AKA 'Sullivan High School Kid', has started a neighborhood blog modeled after yours truly. It's called Avondale/Logan Square Crime Blotter. Tim has gotten himself a scanner and monitors his neighborhoods 911 calls.
And another one of my young readers, Jake CP, has also created a neighborhood blog. It's called Lincoln Park - 43rd Ward. Jake is a master at the You-Tube blogging thingy - and has dabbled in the political blog world, so he's no stranger to controversy. Once Jake even attacked me for calling him the Lonely Girl 119 of Illinois politics.
Good luck, gentlemen. And welcome to the world of neighborhood blogging.
Blognotes: The honors keep coming. This week I've been asked to be a guest professor at one of our local city colleges. Won't that be a hoot?

Thanks Craig, for putting the link up there so more people could see this new website of mine. I also want to thank you for inspiring me to create the new webpage. If it wasn't for "The Broken Heart of Rogers Park", I wouldn't be running my site right now or I wouldn't be aware of anything that's happening at Sullivan and with the very crappy alderman (i'm so disgusted with him, I don't even want to say his name). Also, I have owned my scanner for nearly a year now, so I pretty much know almost all about what the cops do in my district.
I'd like to say thanks again, Craig, you truly are a mentor (to me anyway).
P.S. If you ever need me to cover for you for monitoring 911 calls up in the 24th district, i'm just an email away and I will be more then glad to help you.
Thanks for the offer, Timmy. I'm going to take you up on that.
If you care to, maybe you'd like to do a once a week column for me on your adventures at Sullivan? I've got an open invitation anytime you want to start.
Don't let the 'haters' get you down. Any tips you might need along the way, give me a jingle.
In reply to Craig: First all of all, no problem at all. Second, yes, I would like to do a column regarding Sullivan. I could start as early as Monday (of course, if that snowstorm being forcasted doesn't cancel the bus I take to school or my school being closed).
Thanks, Timmy. Fire away. Just post it in the comments section or email it to me and I'll post it on Tuesday. We'll call it 'Tuesday's with Timmy.'
In reply to Craig: You're welcome. I'll email it to you. That title is very catchy lol and I do like it.

You are embarking on a valuable community service providing residents with real, unfiltered information. I wish you success and will read your blog. Please be careful.
I love to see new Chicago neighborhood blogs popping up and can't link them to my own fast enough.
The blog you link here gives us a window into an interesting Chicago nabe most of us here on the lakefront hardly even know exists. Let's hope we hear from other neighborhoods, too.
Rogers Park is one of the nation's bloggiest neighborhoods, so let's make Chicago the world's bloggiest CITY....... and it's well on its way, for I can't find nearly so many blogs for other major burgs.
Thanks Mr. Gernhardt for the promo.
It was because of this blog and others that I started The Sixth Ward blog. :)
Thanks Craig!
You're welcome, everyone. I hope you guys enjoy keeping your community informed as much as I do?
Blogging is fun if you do it right. I don't ever look at this as a job.
Yes Craig, I do enjoy keeping my community informed. It's real fun :-). It's also real fun when you wake up in the morning and realize that you have a blog and you get to blog whenever you want, and about what you want.
I also believe your statement that blogging is fun as long as you do it right. I, so far, am not looking at my blogging as a job.
