I think the video is a great idea - however - maybe he could try doing it in the daylight with less wind - I really could just hear a few words that he was saying.
(I didn't live up here then - was the Adelphi theatre a nice building?)

Thank you, Bill Morton, for sharing your views with the 49th Ward community. An excellent piece of work, shot on a very nasty night!

And yet, Ald. Joe Moore wants to continue re-zoning, taking "campaign donations" from smarmy developers to line his own pockets!

No MOORE Development!

No MOORE Blight!

No more MOORE!

Thanks Bill for the video. I still can vividly remember the days we fought hard to try and save the theater. It's amazing how long ago the demolition happened and yet still a hole in the ground just at we knew it was going to be. Great video! Thanks again....

The Adelphi had become a dump.
There had been numerous owners over the last 30 or so years & each screwed it up worse than the previous one.

A DUMP! What the hell are you talking about? Did you see what was behind the dry wall in the auditorium? All the original 1917 craftsmanship and plaster that was installed was still there! Some fool covered it up to make it "appear" to be a run down theater. It could have been salvaged and fixed up. It had far more character than any new cinderblock box theater with some drappery affixed to it. It's a damn shame that when movie theaters are built today that no one takes the time to build them with any character. At least back then people cared and put time into creating a work of art for all to enjoy. If the movie stunk you could at least look around and enjoy the theater.

Sock Puppeteer: Please go to my blog--www.anotherthousandwords.blogspot.com--
and look up the article "Saving the Past for the Future". READ IT! LOOK AT THE PHOTOS!

This is what can be accomplished when people unite with a purpose. The Jersey Theater was ALSO considered a "dump"!
